Tour of Tweeddale Cycle Sportive
25 Aug 2019
Tour of Tweeddale - Sunday 25th August.
Last year it was horrible, but the good news is that statistically it's likely to be good weather this year.
Many had a good day on the T1 last year, but the shorter option home proved too tempting for many who had planned the T2. So the routes are unchanged this year in anticipation of a fine day!
This year we extend a welcome to riders on eBikes, but for T1 only.
The ToT Classique (T1). This 50 miler remains a popular choice for many. Takes in the challenging Talla climb (T1, only once ;-)), amazing countryside, and a couple of good foodstops at Tweedsmuir and the Gordon Arms in Yarrow.
The T2. So named because you have the dubious pleasure of climbing Talla twice! And in between you have the scenic descent to St. Mary's Loch, on to Moffat, and then a climb up the Devil's Beef Tub. Some of the finest scenery anywhere. Again, no stinting on sustenance with feed stations at Tweedsmuir and the Gordon Arms, and a pop up water station at Moffat.
Online entries close Thursday 22nd August. No entries on the day.
Entry cost is £22 (includes online admin charge). Under 18 cost £11. No riders under 16 (on the day of the event).
Registration will be at Station Road Car Park, Edinburgh Road, Peebles, which is adjacent to the start. (see map)
Registration opens at 7.30am, and closes at 8.45am. The last departure for the ToT T2 will be at 8.30am, and for the T1, by 9am.
Finish will be on Tweed Green, Peebles (next to the swimming pool). This will be signposted and marshalled.
Rider times will be provided, but are dependant on you stopping at well signposted checkpoints (and the finish!).
Snacks and drinks will be available at intervals on the course, including hot soup at the Gordon Arms.
A "broom wagon" will sweep the course after the last rider.
