Okement Loop Open fell race and Devon AA Champs
Saturday March 21st 2026
Welcome to the first race of the Dartmoor fell Series 2026- it will have races for all age groups and the main event is Open to seniors over 20yrs . This is also the Devon AA Champs and selection race for Intercounties. We hope with good weather this will give you some inspiring views and some awsome running. We are starting not too early and meet in the camping field behind Fox and Hounds , so you can still enjoy the afternoon.
The senior route is a challenging 14.3k and 750m of ascent , which is close the the intercounties challenge being held on May 3rd. Last year we selected a full senior team of 5 and a Ladies team to represent Devon and both performed well against other county teams.
Races ( start time shown - you need to be there early for briefing and numbers check)
We also still need mrshals- so if you are free and want to watch lend a hand- please let me know.
- 10.00am U10 and U12 will race from Moor Gate to Arms tor and back .
- 10.00 am U14 and U16 will race from Moorgate , across ford down to stepping stones , up Brat Tor, across to Arms tor and finish at Moorgate.
- Prizes for these age groups will be done by Devon team manager after senior start.
- 10:45 U18 and U20 will start with seniors and race up Arms Tor, then to Gt links, then split off down rattlebrook track, to stream crossing then down to Gt nodden and finish in camping field. ( kit required)
- 10:45 Senior race will start from moorgate, up Arms Tor, then to Gt links, Ice works, Kitty, Fordinsland ledge, Weir on Okement, Up to Gt nodden and finish in camping field. 14.3k and 750m. ( full kit required)
Devon Selection
Apart from being an Open race this is also a Devon selection race and county championship. For seniors to qualify for Devon AA team you must be linked to an EA regsitered club that is affliaited to Devon AA.

SW Fellrunners are pleased to stage this fell race.The event has an FRA licence, DNPA approval and the course will be marshalled, we are hope you enjoy the course which is mostly unmarked. ( so please read the route). We are welcoming anyone with an interest in off-road running to this new event.
Entries
You have a choice of just the Fell series race or a small additional fee for the Devon Champs. The fee is to is to support travel for Devon AA teams to the intercounties on May3rd. We have tried to keep these as economic as possible. Just choose the right tab . Looking forward to see if we can build on our national success.
Kit (seniors)
Due the classification of the senior race Medium A - Kit is mandatory - so that means you will need to carry - Waterproof ( top and legs), hat, gloves, whistle, compass , map and nutritious snack. This is genuinely for your own safety - one rule for all - not kit - no run. If really severe weather wait for post email and on facebook site. Some steep descents so grippy shoes please.
Parking
The please enter the camping field slowly and park with care at top of field. Registration will be in small gazebo in field. We would really appreciate any offers for help ( car park, junior or senior marshalling)
When to enter - as early as possible - deadline for on-line entry will be Tuesday 17th March at 20:00hrs .
Devon Champs 2026 Senior entry
This is the right entry if you want the Dartmoor Fell series race and enter for Devon AA champs. You should be EA registered and eligible to compete in County champs. Note the £1 fee will go towards senior team travel. If possible a ladies team this year too??
Just a reminder if you know someone that can help marshal - please get in touch.
This year the Intercounties are on may 3rd and team travel may be possible.

Okement loop -Juniors u18/u20 race
This is the right entry if you just want to compete in the open fell series race or Devon County Champ selection. There is no price difference. Have a great race, see you on the hills .
Please read race instructions and look at routes- we will try to provide marshals at key points, but you should make yourself familir with the route.
U18 and U20 will start with senior race at 10:45. Following route to arms tor, thenGt links, then across to rattlebrook where you will go left down hill ( other seniors go right). follow track to marker by stream and take descent line to lower track, through summit of gt nodden, back through moorgate and finish in field.
Pleass study the route and be responsible for you navigation.

Okement loop - Juniors u10/12 and u14/16 races
This is the right entry if you just want competing in the series and it will also be a Devon County Champ selection. This will count as Series race . Have a great race, see you on the hills .
Please read race instructions and look at routes- we will try to provide marshals at key points, but you should make yourself familir with the route.
U10 will run to foot of arms tor ( marshal by a tree) and return. U12 will run to top of arms tor and return the same way . U10 aand U12 start together.
U14 and U16 will start at same time, run across ford and turn right down stream to stepping stones, then take path on left all the way to BRAT tor( marshal), from Brat heading slighly right contour across to Marshal on top of arms tor. Descent straight back to ford and finish by Moorgate.
Please bring hat and raincoat.
