Newburgh Castle Canter - 2 Mile Primary School Fun Run

Venue: Newburgh Mathers Primary School

2026 sees the return of the Newburgh Castle Canter. This will be the 17th time the event has taken place. Open to all but intended as an event for primary and nursery aged children (prizes will only be for these age groups).

The 2 mile route will start in the school playing field, leaving by the exit onto St. Clair Wynd and then onto Knockhall Road. From there, up to Knockhall Castle where water will be available, runners will loop around the castle and back the same way to the school playing field.

Runners in the Nursery to Primary categories will receive water and snacks at the finish as well as a Castle Canter finishers pack.

All entrants under 5 must be accompanied at all times by an adult.

Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall boy and girl (up to P7)

Category prize for 1st boy and 1st girl in nursery - P7 categories. Please note category prizes are not school specific.

Pricing

Nursey to Primary 7 - £7

All other runners (adults and children older than Primary 7) - £3 (No medal for for this category)

Number pickup will be 09:45 to 10:40 on the day from Newburgh Mathers Primary School.

Prize giving will be at around 12:30 in the school hall, tbc at number pick up.

Please note there will be a cut-off time of 40 minutes for runners to finish.

Competitors enter at their own risk and should ensure they are medically fit enough to undertake this fun run. The run will be well marshalled but does involve crossing and running on open roads and uneven surfaces.

All profits will go to Newburgh Mathers Primary School.
