The man who has made the mile record is W.G. George...His time was 4 minutes 12.75 seconds, and the probability is that this record will never be beaten.     Harry Andrews, 1903

Bring the Flames.

For a sixth year, we return.

Following our fifth race in May 2022 where local lad Ben MacMillan obliterated the 4mins barrier with a fiery 3:57mins performance, we are delighted to announce the return of 'The Monument Mile Classic' for a sixth year on Saturday 26 August 2023.

Some changes for 2023

You will see that we have changed our date for 2023. We move from our usual time in May to the end of August. Having typically hosted our race in May, we found that this time was beginning to become congested for races across the UK. This limited our ability to the best field possible, and it also affected our ability to retain our all-important officials.

Further, we move from a Friday evening to a Saturday evening. We want to give our athletes the best ability to get to our race, and many will find this easier on a Saturday when coming from further afield.

We are delighted to announce that our partnership with GSS Developments continues for a third year. GSS are a commercial property firm operating across Scotland. With offices in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, GSS Developments provide extensive knowledge of the design and build of new commercial buildings, along with a track record of refurbishing and upgrading obsolete buildings, which typifies their approach to creating high quality assets and spaces.

We are also pleased to announce that PWR join us in sponsoring the event for the first time. PWR produce both pre-sport lotions and post-sport lotions solutions to both get athletes ready for sport, and to help them recover as quickly as possible. PWR will be on-site on the night with their product available for athletes to try and use.

Also for the first year, IPME join us a sponsor. IPME provide engineering, procurement and construction expertise in both public and private sectors, from small renovations to large capital projects. Their design and management professionals create a bespoke integrated service in support of their clients' requirements.

The Monument Mile Classic, Central AC, PWR, IPME and GSS Developments look forward to working together deliver the sixth annual Monument Mile Classic on Saturday 26 August 2023.
