Welcome to the 2024 M3 Monikie Triathlon Festival brought to you by Monifieth Triathlon Club (M3) and supported by Triathlon Scotland.
The festival will be made up of the following races, held on Saturday 6th July 2024:
- Sprint - 750m swim, 21km cycle, 5km run (Scottish National Championship)
- Mixed Team Relay - (Scottish National Championship)
- TriStars 1 - Triathlon*
- TriStars 2 - Triathlon*
- TriStars 3 - Triathlon*
All events take part in and around the wonderful setting of Monikie Country Park, which is perfect for those who wish to experience an open water swim in a beautiful rural setting, cycle on the local roads within Angus and finish with a flat run around the ponds. The events are open to athletes of all abilities.

Refund policy
Entrants wishing to withdraw must inform the organiser by email. Entry fees (minus platform fees) will be refunded or transferred as follows;
more than 8 weeks prior to race date: either if the event is sold out and there is someone on the waiting list 100% refund (minus platform fees) or if there is no one on the waiting list able to take your place 75% refund (minus platform fees).
More than 4 weeks prior to race date: 50% refund (minus platform fees).
More than 2 weeks prior to race date 25% refund (minus platform fees).
Less than 2 weeks prior to race date - no refund.
All refunds are at the discretion of the event organisers, and we reccomend cancellation insurance.
*Tristars triathlons are pending road closure. If the application for road closure is unsuccessful the triathlon will be changed to an aquathon.
2024 Scottish National Team Relay Triathlon Championship
Welcome to the 2024 M3 Monikie Mixed Team Relay Triathlon brought to you by Monifieth Triathlon Club (M3) and Triathlon Scotland.
This is a fantastic four person team event for mixed groups to take part in a fast event on the beautiful setting of Monikie Country Park and cycle on the local roads around Monikie with a flat run between the ponds. The event is open to athletes of all abilities.
The event is also the Scottish National Mixed Team Relay Championships! To be eligible to win a Championships title, your team must be registered from a club affiliated to Triathlon Scotland, and all of your team members (2 female and 2 male) must be members of Triathlon Scotland. The order of racers in the mixed team relay championships will be male - female - male- female.
Format
The first team member starts at the sound of the starters horn and completes all three disciplines in order. Upon completing their run leg back at the beach they remove their timing chip and hand it to the next person in their team. Once the timing chip is secured on their left leg, they then start their turn. Once all four members have completed their triathlon in succession the event is finished and refreshments await!
SWIM
The swim is in the smaller of the two ponds, North Pond over a 300 metre course, swimming an anticlockwise circuit. The swim entry and relay change over point is on the beach and finishes at the same swim exit used by the sprint championhip race. On exiting the water you are within 80 meters of transition.
Wetsuits are compulsory.

Bike
Exiting the transition area, you will be guided onto the cycle route out of the south gate. Exit the south gate of Monikie Park, turn left on B961 to Crombie Crossroads, turn left on to Kirkton Rd and Left Again on to Panmure Rd before emerging back onto the B961 at the south end of the park. You will then turn left into the park via the south gate to complete a 5k loop of the park perimeter.

Run
Exit transition for the run and head east between the two ponds to the turn around. The first three athletes will turn to the beach and had over their timing chip and the last athlete will sprint for the finish line in front of the rangers building.

- There is a limit of 10 x 4 person teams for the race and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis

- THE RELAY TRIATHLON WILL BE UNDER THE RACE RULES OF TRIATHLON SCOTLAND
- Estimated start times : Sprin 0900hrs, T1 1200hrs, T2 1240hrs, T3 1330hrs, Relay 1430hrs
- Car parking is available within the Grounds of Monikie Park - This year a charge of £2.70 will apply per vehicle which is payable on the day to Angus Alive, the providers of the race venue. We recommend car sharing where possible. We will also be securing offsite parking to reduce the loading on the park, this will be communicated leading up to the event - Parking on the road outside the park (Panmure Road), is strictly not permitted as this poses a risk to competitors during the event
- Medical Cover & First Aid provided by Tayside Mountain Rescue, and aligned with Triathlon Scotland Championship Event requirements
- Refreshments - There is a Café within the Grounds of Monikie Park
- Showers and toilets are within the grounds of Monikie Park

2024 Scottish National Sprint Triathlon Championship
Welcome to the Sprint Triathlon at Monikie Park brought to you by Monifieth Triathlon Club (M3) and Triathlon Scotland.
This is a fantastic sprint Triathlon for all those who wish to experience an open water swim in the beautiful setting of Monikie Country Park and cycle on the local roads within Angus with a flat run around the ponds. The event is open to athletes of all abilities.
SWIM:
The swim is in the smaller north reservoir (one of two man made reservoirs in the park),over a 750 metre course, swimming an anticlockwise circuit. The swim will be a mass beach start (However this may be in 2-3 waves dependant on competitor numbers). The entry point is different to the exit. On exiting you are within 80 meters of transition.
Wetsuits are recommended (And maybe compulsory depending on the temperature of the water).
Dependent on weather, we may alter the swim route. Swim route v1 or Swim route V2.
CYCLE:
Exiting the transition area, you will be guided onto the cycle route out of the south gate. Exit the south gate of Monikie Park, turn left on B961 to Crombie Crossroads, turn left on B9128 to junction B978, turn left. Continue south to junction at Luckyslap, turn left. Head into Monikie Village to the bridge, turn right (this is a quiet junction), continue to B961 turn left and enter south gate of Monikie Park to finish the cycle.

RUN:
Exit transition for the run anti clock wise around the both lakes for the first lap and then South lake only on the second lap finishing on the second lap in front of the rangers building.

Prices
A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for participants who are not a British Triathlon Home Nation member. For this event, Race Pass costs are £2.00 (plus £0.08 service charge) for participants aged 24 and under, and £8.00 (plus £0.32 service charge) otherwise.
