The Meteor Mile 2024

Gloucestershire airport, Staverton. Friday 30th August, 8.00pm race start.

The Meteor Mile - an opportunity run along the main runway at Gloucestershire airport against the sunset and to challenge yourself over a measured, fast and traffic-free (yes, the airport will be closed to any take-offs and landings at this time!) one-mile course. It is open to all athletes and families are encouraged, with prizes awarded to the fastest junior athletes as well as adults.

Prizes are awarded to the following:

§  First three senior male and female athletes (there are no age categories)

§  First junior (U15) male and female athlete

§  First Almost Athlete (male and female)

Entry fee is £10 for adults and £5 for under 15s (anybody under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult). Advance entries close on Monday26th August but on-the-day entry will be permitted.

There is parking at the airport but it is limited so please share cars if possible. Registration is from 6.00 to 7.00pm, ‘landside,’ outside the terminal. The race briefing will be given afterwards, once we are given clearance to go ‘airside’ (into the airport itself). After this we will walk, en-masse, to the start at the far end of the airport. The race starts at 8.00pm on the access road to the main runway, Athletes will return to towards the terminal building via the runway itself.

Toilets are available at Race HQ but there are no changing / baggage facilities – you are encouraged to out / leave your belongings in your car. Post-race refreshments will be available at The Aviator bar, where the prize-giving presentation will also take place.
