Organiser's Description

The Meedies Running Club 24 Hour Charity Relay returns to Lochore Meadows Country Park, near Lochgelly on Friday 5th July through to Saturday 6th July 2024. The event commences at 7pm on Friday 5th July, and finishes at 7pm on Saturday 6th July.

The setting for this event is a fantastic, multi terrain 5k route around the stunning Lochore Meadows.

YOU CHOOSE YOUR DISTANCE - Participants can challenge themselves to cover any distance ranging from 5k upwards to 50k and beyond based on your own ability.  Test yourself with a 5K, 10K, HALF MARATHON, MARATHON or ULTRA distance at your own time and pace, covering as many laps as you choose, around the designated 5k route, taking in the beautiful scenery.  

The event is open to all abilities, and will see people running/jogging/walking around the 5k route for the entire 24 hour period.

This year we are also offering the following Championships available for you to enter if you wish to do so:

SINGLE ENTRY CHAMPIONSHIP -There will be a prize for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male and Female covering the furthest distance.  Prior to the event, or on arrival please contact the Event Organiser to register your entry for the Single Entry Championship, and further information on evidence etc. will be provided.

TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - Get yourself into Teams of 6 - There will be prizes for the 3 Teams that cover the furthest collective distance.  Team prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  Prior to the event, or on arrival please let the Event Organiser know your Team Name and all the names of your Team Members, further instructions on evidencing your mileage will be provided.  (Team members are not all required to run together or attend the event at the same time)

On registration to the Meedies Running Club 24 Hour Relay, you can if you wish contact the Event Organiser to advise of a particular day and time that you would like to take part.  Please arrive in plenty time to get parked and register.  Finishers Medals will be presented to all participants taking part.

The start line will be adjacent to the Willie Clarke Park Centre on the grass area beside the main car park.  Drinks, tea and coffee and refreshements will be available at all times courtesy of the Meedies Running Club members.  There will be a gazebo tent for shelter if required and space to store your bags and belongings (at your own risk).  There will be a BBQ at certain times with minimum costs, and the cafe within the Willie Clarke Centre also offers hot drinks and snacks during opening hours. 

This event is purely for charity purposes and funds will be donated to local causes. Your support is greatly appreciated.  The event is an open event and all participants take part at their own risk, there will however be first aid support available at all times.

Please note that you can run, walk or jog the course depending on your ability as everyone is welcome to take part! Children are welcome to take part as long as they are accompanied by an adult, children in buggies are Free of Charge. Canicross runners are also welcome.

We will also be collecting food stuff and toiletries for the local foodbank and food pantry - if you would like donate any items please bring them along with you to the event - much appreciated..

Facilities and Car Parking:

There are toilet facilities available over the course of the 24 hours and there is also ample parking, but please car share where possible. 

The park offers a Motor Home / Campervan area - please contact the park centre direct to book.

There is a large outdoor play park for children on site along with nature walks and cycling tracks.

Cancelation Policy

Competitors, spectators and our volunteers' safety will always be the highest priority for the event organisers. If anything occurs that is outwith our control that would compromise health and safety then we reserve the right to modify, cancel or reschedule the event accordingly. The organisers will communicate any changes as far ahead as circumstances dictate, along with entry decisions.
