Welcome to the M3 Monikie Triathlon Festival brought to you by Triathlon Scotland & Monifieth Triathlon Club (M3)

The festival will be made up of the following races, held on the 12th July 2020:

  • Sprint - Scottish National Championship
  • Open Water Novice
  • TriStars 1 - Aquathlon
  • TriStars 2 - Aquathlon
  • TriStars 3 - Aquathlon
  • Mixed Team Relay - Scottish National Championship

All events take part in and around a beautiful rural setting which is perfect for those who wish to experience an open water swim in the beautiful setting of Monikie Country Park, cycle on the local roads within Angus and finish with a flat run around the ponds.  The events are open to athletes of all abilities.

Refund policy

Entrants wishing to withdraw must inform the organiser by email. Entry fees will be refunded or transferred as follows; up to 1 month prior to race date 75% refund (less any Entry Central fees) or deferal to next year if asked for, up to 2 weeks prior to race date 50% refund (less any Entry Central fees). After 2 weeks prior to race date - no refund.

If the event is cancelled due to circumstances out of the organisers control then no refunds will be offered, and the organiser will accept no further liability whatsoever arising from such a cancellation. This includes situations such as adverse weather conditions or major incidents. In this circumstance, the organisers will make every reasonable attempt to reschedule the event, in which scenario, original entrants will have their entry automatically transferred to the rescheduled event.

Monifieth Triathlon Club are delighted to present the Novice Triathlon event at Monikie Park.  The event will take part in and around Monikie Park on the quiet roads around it resulting in a safe race for all atheletes racing.

The race distances are as follows:

Swim 400m

Bike 13km

Run 2.5km

 

SWIM

The swim is in the smaller of the two ponds and will be supported with kayaks and rescue craft to ensure the safety of all competitors throughout the swim leg.  A short run will take the competitors to transition.  

Wetsuits are recommended (And maybe compulsory depending on the temperature of the water).

BIKE

Exiting the transition area, you will be guided onto the cycle route out of the south gate.  Exit the south gate of Monikie Park, turn left on B961, turn left to Kirkton Rd following the perimeter of the park and then turn left down Panmure road before a final left turn at Monikie Hall and back into the park via the South gate.  All corners will be marshalled for the bike leg.

Welcome to the M3 Monikie Mixed Team Relay Triathlon brought to you by Triathlon Scotland & Monifieth Triathlon Club (M3)

This is a fantastic four person team event for mixed groups to take part in a fast event on the beautiful setting of Monikie Country Park and cycle on the local roads around Monikie with a flat run between the ponds.  The event is open to athletes of all abilities.

The event is also the Scottish National Mixed Team Relay Championships!  To be eligible to win a Championships title, your team must be registered from a club affiliated to Triathlon Scotland, and all of your team members (2 female and 2 male) must be members of Triathlon Scotland.  To join or renew your membership with Triathlon Scotland, visit http://www.triathlonscotland.org/membership.  The order of racers in the mixed team relay championships will be female - male - female - male.

Format

Each team consists of a mix of male and female team mates of any combination, except for the Scottish Championships race which must comprise of 2 female and 2 male competitors.

The first team member starts at the sound of the starters horn and completes all three disciplines in order.  Upon completing their run leg back at the beach they remove their timing chip and hand it to the next person in their team.  Once the timing chip is secured on their left leg, they then start their turn.  Once all four members have completed their triathlon in succession the event is finished and refreshments await!!  

SWIM

The swim is in the smaller of the two ponds, North Pond over a 300 metre course, swimming an anticlockwise circuit.  The swim entry  and relay change over point is on the beach and finishes at the same swim exit used by the sprint championhip race.  On exiting the water you are within 80 meters of transition. 

Wetsuits are compulsory.

Bike

Exiting the transition area, you will be guided onto the cycle route out of the south gate.  Exit the south gate of Monikie Park, turn left on B961 to Crombie Crossroads, turn left on to Kirkton Rd and Left Again on to Panmure Rd before emerging back onto the B961 at the south end of the park.  You will then turn left into the park via the south gate to complete a 5k loop of the park perimeter.

Exit transition for the run and head east between the two ponds to the turn around.  The first three athletes will turn to the beach and had over their timing chip and the last athlete will sprint for the finish line in front of the rangers building.

Welcome to the  Scottish National Sprint Triathlon Championships at Monikie Park brought to you by Triathlon Scotland & Monifieth Triathlon Club (M3)

This is a fantastic sprint Triathlon for all those who wish to experience an open water swim in the beautiful setting of Monikie Country Park and cycle on the local roads within Angus with a flat run around the ponds.  The event is open to athletes of all abilities.

The swim is in the smaller of the two lakes, North Lake over a 750 metre course, swimming an anticlockwise circuit.  The swim will be a mass beach start (However this may be in 2-3 waves dependant on competitor numbers).  The entry point is different to the exit.  On exiting you are within 80 meters of transition. 

Wetsuits are recommended (And maybe compulsory depending on the temperature of the water).
