Organiser's Description

The 30th Linda Franks Race (Sunday 21st January 2024)

Entries are closed but you can join the waiting list

Race Licence 2024-45642

Welcome to the 30th running of the Linda Franks Race. This is a popular local race and is included in the (currently provisional) Gloucestershire AAA road race series competition for 2024. Originally a 2.2 / 4.4 mile fun run from 1994, this has evolved into a measured 5 mile race but remains true to its ethos of being inclusive to runners of all abilities and raising proceeds for local charities.

The race is chip-timed (thanks to LuSH timing) and is a certified 5-mile distance, with mile markers along the two-loop circuit which is on mainly residential streets. It is largely flat and a potential PB course and is suitable for wheelchair athletes. Medals are given to all finishers.

Prizes are awarded to (male and female) top three open athletes, first age category finshers, first team and first wheelchair athlete. Please note any runner winning an open prize will not be eligible for an age category prize (i.e. they will not win 2 individual prizes).

Race HQ is at the Reddings Community Centre (North Road West GL51 6RF), with parking expected to be at Ultra Precision (Hatherley Lane, near Asda) - an approximate 10-minute walk.

Registration is from 7.45 to 8.45am at Race HQ, after which a race briefing will be given and we will make our way to the start, about a 5-minute walk away. Race start is 9.00am (8.55am for wheelchair athletes).

Toilets and refreshments will be available at Race HQ. There are no changing or baggage facilities and we recommend that you arrive 'race-ready.'

Please be aware that any (non-UKA-approved) personal listening devices are not allowed - you must be able to hear traffic and marshal instructions.
