The 28th Linda Franks Race
Entries open 14th November
Reddings Community Centre, Cheltenham
Sunday 23rd Jan 2022, 9.00am race start.
Provisional Licence 2022-42201
Please note: we are monitoring the Covid outlook for the winter and if deemed necessary will apply precautionary measures for race day. A decision will be made in this regard prior to entries opening.
The 28th Linda Franks Race will revert to its traditional January date. This is a popular local race and typically forms part of the Gloucestershire AAA road race series competition. Originally a 2.2 / 4.4 mile fun run from 1994, this has evolved into a measured 5 mile race but remains true to its ethos of being inclusive to runners of all abilities and raising proceeds for local charities.
The race is chip-timed (thanks to LuSH timing) and is a certified 5-mile distance, with mile markers along the two-loop circuit which is on mainly residential streets. It is largely flat and a potential PB course and is suitable for wheelchair athletes. Medals are given to all finishers.
Prizes are awarded to (male and female) top three open athletes, first age category finshers, first team and first wheelchair athlete. Please note any runner winning an open prize will not be eligible for an age category prize (i.e. they will not win 2 individual prizes).
Entries will open, in three waves, on:
- Sun 14th Nov, 6pm
- Wed 17th Nov, 6pm
- Sat 20th Nov, 7am
Entry fee is £13 (£11 for UKA-affiliated athletes), until the closing date of Wednesday 19th January. If the race is full before then a waiting list will be opened.
Any subsequent withdrawals will be offered to the waiting list, in order, and refunds will be made if the withdrawn place is successfully transferred (this will be minus the 50p admin charge we pay to Entry Central). Once the closing date has passed there will be no more transfers / refunds and there will be no entries on the day.
Race HQ is at the Reddings Community Centre (North Road West GL51 6RF), with parking expected to be at Ultra Precision and / or The Pavilion (Hatherley Lane, near Asda) - an approximate 10-minute walk.
Registration is from 7.45 to 8.45am at Race HQ, after which a race briefing will be given and we will make our way to the start, about a 5-minute walk away. Race start is 9.00am (8.55am for wheelchair athletes).
Please be aware that any (non-UKA-approved) personal listening devices are not allowed - you must be able to hear traffic and marshal instructions.
Toilets and refreshments are available at Race HQ. Whilst there are no changing or baggage facilities you may prepare in the main hall. We will have people in-situ but issue the standard disclaimer that you leave your belongings at your own risk.
