The 13th ERN LP Run
26 Sep 2026
Organiser's Description
Do you like the idea of running on a track? To good tunes? With cake for afters? We have just the race for you.
The Edinburgh Running Network LP RUN is back! We’re delighted to be returning to Meadowmill Sports Centre, near Tranent at 1pm on Saturday 26th September 2026.
Background: ERN is one of the friendliest running clubs in Scotland and we welcome entries from runners of all abilities. Not everyone has had the chance to run on a track, it is a great experience and no matter how fast or slow you are, everyone is in it together and invited for tea and cake afterwards.
Our run is based on the oldest race in Houston, Texas, which has been going for over 50 years. For the download generation here is a short explanation of the format… when the music starts, you have 33.3 minutes (33 minutes and 20 seconds) to run as many laps of the track as you can (33.3 revolutions per minute being the speed of a 12” Long Play vinyl record). The music is selected by the entrants, making a unique soundtrack for each LP Run.
Charity: The 2026 LP Run is in aid of The Junction (registered charity SC036721). They are an award-winning charity in North East Edinburgh that supports and improves young people’s health and wellbeing. They provide a safe, trusted space where young people can talk, be heard, and build the skills they need to thrive.” All profits from the event and donations on the day will go towards their activities.
Music: When you enter you are asked to nominate a tune you'd like to hear during the run. Our theme for 2026 is "tracks from our youth". Definition of youth is at your own discretion! We are hoping to hear tunes from every and any era!
Prizes: Every entrant will receive a biscuit medal, and we have prizes for the top finishers and other spot awards. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know and we will try to accomodate.
Kid's Races: There will also be 100m and 400m juniors races starting at 12:30pm, no need to register in advance just join in on the day. The whole family can get involved and go home with a coveted biscuit medal.
Refreshments: After the running is done, it’s time for tea, coffee and cakes. Please join in and bring along some baking. All savouries and sweets welcome, it doesn't have to be perfect, just tasty. For some, the hottest competition of the day is for star baker! (Adult and junior prizes)
Kit Swap: Bring your kit that you don't wear anymore to give it the chance at a new life. (Any kit left over will be donated.)
Fancy Dress: We are encouraging optional fancy dress again this year and word on the street is that there will be prizes for the best outfit (personally the RD is hoping we see some of those ABBA outfits some club members donned in a relay last year)!
T-Shirts: The 2026 LP run T-shirts are £12.50, available only as a pre-order by midnight on Monday 31st August. There's no missing this year's retro charcoal.
Please note that music requests & T-shirt orders must be placed by Monday 31st August
As this is a charity event no refunds will be given.
The ERN LP Run is a Scottish Athletics Track and Field Permit Event held under UK Athletics Rules.
Edinburgh Running Network wish to thank Enjoy Leisure and Meadowmill Sports Centre for their support of the LP Run.
