Herefordshire and Borders - Junior Winter Cross Country Series 2026/27

We are pleased to announce that Junior XC will be returning for the 2026/2027 series.

All junior races are out and back routes, following the senior course, with turnaround points for each age group. 

The races will be held under UKA Rules. All races will have medical provision.

Event Dates;

Race 1 – Sunday 8^th November 2026 – Croft Castle (Croft Ambrey)

Race 2 – Sunday 10^th January 2027 – Malvern College (Malvern Buzzards)

Race 3 – Sunday 7^th February 2027 – Rotherwas (Hereford Tri Club)

To support the event, we ask that parents and guardians help with marshalling the races, it will also enable you to watch your child compete. Please complete the attached questions regarding marshalling availability. All marshals’ will be finished with enough time to take part in the later adult race.

All age categories will start at the same time – 10am.

All races will be finished by 10.30am.

U12 (School years 5 and 6) race will be 2K.

U14 (School years 7 and 8) race will be 3K.

U16 (School years 9 and 10) race will be 4K

Prizes awarded for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd Male and Female in U12, U14 and U16 categories at the 3^rd event. Results awarded on total time for all 3 events. Juniors can choose to run in 1, 2 or 3 races but must compete in all 3 to be eligible for a prize.

Age category set by age on the date of the 1^st event and you remain in your age category for the series. Minimum age is 9 on the date of the first event.

Sign ups will be taken via Entry Central, the cost is £10 for the series. No reduction for entering part way though the series or not running all 3 races.

After registering your bib will be allocated by RSG who will then give to your club captain to collect on race day, you will then need to collect your ankle chip from RSG. Bibs and ankle timing chips will need to be collected by 9.40am. Ankle timing chips are to be returned after the end of each race.

All sign ups must be affiliated to a club within the Herefordshire and Borders Cross Country League - Wye Valley Runners, Hereford Couriers, Maldwyn Harriers, Ledbury & District Harriers, Hereford Triathlon Club, Croft Ambrey RC, Builth & District Running Club, Malvern Buzzards Running Club, Presteigne Pacers, Western Tempo, Hereford & County Athletics Club, Spirit of Monmouth, Monross Trailblazers, Brecon AC, Hay Hotfooters, Forest of Dean AC, Ludlow Runners and Newent Runners.

Guest runners will not be allowed.

Club colours must be worn.

Race numbers will be allocated to each club at the start of the league.

Numbers must be displayed on the front of runners’ vests and attached securely at each corner.

Each individual runner will retain the same number throughout the season. The numbers issued are waterproof and re-useable. If the number is lost, a replacement bib will need to be purchased at the price set by the results provider.

It is strictly forbidden for anyone to create their own number and may result in disqualification of the individual and their team.

All race timings will be based on gun time.
