Carnegie Harriers are pleased to announce that the 2026 races will take place on Sunday 8th February 2026. There will be two races of approximately 15k (9 miles) and 5k (3.1 miles) respectively with the 15k starting at 11:00 am and the 5k starting at approximately 11:10 am. Both will be run under UK Athletics Rules and Licences from Scottish Athletics and will start and finish in the grounds of the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, Kincardine, FK10 4BE.

For 2026, there are new and improved routes for both races making more use of smaller tracks and paths throughout the forest and providing, overall, better underfoot conditions for running.

You must be at least 17 years old to take part in the Devilla Forest 15k and 13 years old to take part in the Devilla Forest 5k, in accordance with UKA Rules.

Entry fees for the 15k are £20.00 for Scottish Athletics Members and £22.00 for non-SA Members and £12.00 and £14.00 respectively for the 5k.

A donation will be made to the Ochils Mountain Rescue Team who provide First Aid cover for the event.

REFUNDS

We do not offer refunds to entrants who are no longer able to run. However, transfers (including between races) will be possible up to Wednesday 4th February.

RACE START POINTS:

New for 2026, the start and finish lines for both races will be located just behind the Recreation Block and will be clearly marked. Please be ready to assemble 10 minutes before your start time for your race briefing.

THE COURSES:

The majority of both routes is within Devilla Forest itself. Route maps can be found on the Carnegie Harriers website (www.carnegie-harriers.co.uk ). The routes are best suited to trail shoes as underfoot conditions can vary considerably, especially on the 15k route. Ordinary trainers would be okay in dry conditions but not spikes.

Both routes will be marshalled and well-marked at all junctions. The safety of all is paramount and competitors must follow the instructions of the marshals. As Devilla Forest is a working forest any work taking place may affect parts of the race routes. In the event that beforehand, or even on race day itself, we need to amend either or both routes, for example if adversely affected by weather or underfoot conditions, any changes will be notified to entrants as soon as known. Please check our website (https://carnegie-harriers.co.uk/) and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/carnegieharriers) for the latest information.

Dogs are not permitted in either race.

15K

A completely new race route passing through a variety of sheltered woodland and open ground using a mix of forest roads, paths and tracks of varying widths and surfaces, designed to provide better underfoot conditions for running. After heavy rain, parts of the route may become quite muddy in places so maybe not a good idea to wear your best trainers!

From the new start / finish area runners run past the historic Tulliallan Castle in the Police College grounds towards the forest before turning up left to follow a scenic and “relatively flat" clockwise loop of the forest. After passing the Moor Loch, the route winds towards Peppermill Dam then down towards the Keir Burn.

It then follows the burn, passing through the ‘infamous’ bog before looping round the Keir Dam, after which it heads south to join part of the Red Squirrel trail, one the forest's main visitor attractions. From there, it’s back north before heading back to the edge of the Moor Loch to return to the college grounds and the finish line.

There is a water station at 7k and any runner not reaching this within an hour will be timed out and withdrawn from the race.

5K

On leaving the college grounds, the route turns up left into the forest and follows a scenic and relatively flat ‘out and back’ route. After heading along the north side of the Moor Loch, the route enters a more enclosed section of forest until it reaches the half-way point where it turns round and returns the same way. Apart from a short section of tarmac within the college grounds, the rest of the route is on forest roads.

PARKING:
There is ample car parking within the the grounds of the Scottish Police College. Anyone attending the races (runners or supporters) must only enter the Scottish Police College by the main entrance and follow the marshals directions. They should not follow any Sat Nav directions through Devilla Forest as these routes are unsuitable for cars and upsets local residents.

TOILETS and CHANGING FACILITIES:

Changing, showering and toilet facilities are available at the Recreation Hall. The organisers accept no responsibility for loss of clothing or equipment and it is the responsibility of runners to make sure they have all their belongings before leaving the race venue.

REFRESHMENTS:

There will be water station at 7k in the 15k race and there will be water and post-race snacks at the finish for runners.

The Copper Lounge, located within the Recreation Block will be open to all from 9.00am until 2.00pm, serving hot and cold drinks and a variety of snacks.

GREEN CREDENTIALS

Please help us to reduce the impact our events have on the environment by bringing your own water / fluid bottle and by considering car sharing or using public transport (the Police College is within easy walking distance of a main bus route).

RACE MEMENTOES and PRIZES:

All finishers will receive a bespoke medal and an extensive range of excellent prizes will be awarded in all age categories in both races.

Once again we are very fortunate to be  supported by Run4It Edinburgh. All entrants to both the 15K and 5K will receive a 15% off Run4It voucher.  Please check out their website: www.run4it.com.

RESULTS:

Both races are chip timed by Perfect Timing Scotland and the full race results will be available on the Carnegie Harriers (www.carnegie-harriers.co.uk) and Perfect Timing Scotland (Results – Perfect Timing) websites shortly after the event finishes. Runners who have provided a valid mobile number will also receive a text message with details of their time within about 5 minutes of finishing.
