2025 Derby Junior Triathlon Results

This year’s event will take place on Sunday the 14th of June 2026 at Allestree Woodlands School, Blenhiem Drive Derby DE22 2LW.

All levels and abilities are encouraged to take part, whether it’s your first ever race or you’re pushing towards qualification to represent the East Midlands region. There are both Open and Female categories in accordance with BTF regulations. All competitors receive a medal and the top 3 finishers in each category will receive a trophy!

There are three sign up options:

1. Novice Duathlon (NEW FOR 2026)
2. TriStar Start (East Midlands League)
3. TS1 - Youth (Covers all other East Midlands League age groups TS1, TS2, TS3 and Youth)

Your child will be allocated into the correct category based on date of birth at 31st December this year. (i.e. if your child has their 8th birthday in August they will still be eligible to enter the Tristar Start category whilst they are still 7 years old on the day of the race).

The event is held in the grounds of Woodlands School, close to Derby city center which enables us to keep the course entirely traffic free with good access for spectators. We use the 20m indoor pool and the school sports fields, with race distances as shown in the table below. Note: the course is predominantly grass and as such participants footwear and cycle tyres should be suitable for the terrain.

NOVICE DUATHLON - NEW FOR 2026

We recognise that racing for the first time as part of a regional competition is daunting for all ages and that not everyone thinking about giving multisport a go is a confident swimmer. To complement the TriStart age group and building on the success of our 2025 Untimed Novice category we are introducing a Novice Duathlon category (NO SWIM) at a lower entry fee than the League races, open to ages from TS1 and upwards (9-16). The race distance is aligned to the maximum TS1 Duathlon category to keep it beginner friendly. You don't need fancy equipment - just suitable clothing, a roadworthy bike and a helmet.

What to expect: This is a run-bike-run event with a mass start per age group. You will be given a briefing prior to your wave start explaining each stage of the course.

Please do not enter this category if you are participating in the East Midlands League.

Please check and ensure your participant is on the start list published closer to the event dtae and that they're in the right category! Please check the DTC website linked above for any updates right up to race day. We do make mistakes...

RACE PASS:

The Derby Junior Triathlon is a BTF permitted event. Individuals who are not annual members of British Triathlon must purchase a Race Pass to take part in a British Triathlon permitted event. A Race Pass provides membership to the sport on the day of the event, a race licence and public liability insurance cover only for the duration of the race it was purchased for. The way that race licenses/day licenses are administered has changed. Entry Central will now collect a £2 fee on behalf of the BTF for any participants that are not a current Home Nations member.

PHOTOGRAPHY:

Derby Triathlon Club wish to make all parents and guardians aware that a photographer will be in attendance at the event. Unless expressed permission is gained from the parent or guardian, only wider angled shots, general photos and crowded shots will be used in future promotional materials to publicise future events, the sport and the club in general.

Anyone wishing to take photographs of their child/children on the day must register at race registration and will be provided with a sticker to be affixed to camera phone/recording device as evidence of registration. Anyone not presenting evidence of having registered to take photographs at the event will be challenged by Marshalls. 

An option is provided at the point of sign up to enable participants to opt out of having their photograph taken. A small sticker will be provided at registration to be affixed to race number(s), identifying a participant as not having consented to photography. REFUNDS:

This event is funded directly by attendees; it is not possible to offer a flexible approach to event attendance due to the fixed costs of organising the event. Our cancellation and refund policy is below: 

Up to 28 days before race date: 

A refund will be given minus a transaction and administration fee of £5. As there is no guarantee that the event will proceed annually, no deferrals will be given.

Less than 28 days before race date: 

No refund or transfer to another course either entirely or partly. 

EVENT CANCELLATION:

Derby Triathlon Club reserve the right to alter the event format to Aquathon in the event that adverse weather conditions prevent the cycle segment of the course being run safely. If the event should have to be cancelled due to reasons beyond Derby Triathlon Club's control, every effort shall be made to return entry fees (minus transaction fees) to the entrant.
