Event Information- Just £15 for first 15 entries.
We enjoyed last years 10k so much we thought we would do it all again! We hope you will join us on our beautiful and friendly peninsula on Sunday June 9th for the 2024 Cove & Kilcreggan 10k Run or Walk and this year a 1.3 km Fun Run for the children. Same route as last year, varied, challenging and never dull. Hopefully we wil have the pipes again this year.....the bagpipes and hose pipes! We start and finish in the heart of Cove at the Cove Burgh Hall where you will register and there are toilet facilities and bag drop. The route is mixed terain, starting on the flat along road and pavement then turning up onto the forestry track which is undulating dirt track with lovely scenery. The forestry track will be a little challenging as it has a slow incline but once you reach the 5km point then it's a satisfying downhill run on the track then pavement all the way back to the hall. You can also enter to walk the 10k which will set off before the runners at 11.30am. So if someone you know might fancy joining you for a walk then they can do so and also receive a lovely medal. The run is for 16 year olds and upwards and the walk is for 8 year olds and upwards, under 12s need to be accompanied by a paying adult. Entry for the run is £22.50 for an adult or £20.50 for Scottish Athletic Members and the walk is also £22.50 for adults £5 for kids who are up for the challenge. We wish we could make it cheaper but costs require us to charge this much.........but first 15 to sign up for the walk and first 15 entrants for the run get it for only £15.
New this year is the Kids Fun Run - a 1.3km dash on the pavement and includes a steep hill and steps. The fun run is for kids aged between 6 and 15. Under 10s need to be accompanied by an adult (no charge for an accompanying adult). Entry £5 per child.
Starts 11am for Kids Fun Run, 11.30am for 10k Walkers and 12 noon for 10k Runners.. A warm welcome awaits you.
Registration from 10am, tea, coffee and cakes for sale from 10am until the end or we run out!
Toilets available at registration at Cove Burgh Hall where you can drop your bag.
Parking is limited at the start and finish so we recommend using public transport or car share. Parking is available next to the Cove Burgh Hall and the Cove Sailing Club a short walk from the start. The bus leaves Helensburgh at 10am getting in to Cove at 10.38 giving you time to register for either the walk or run , get to the toilet, drop your bag and have a walk or a cuppa. Buses leave every 2 hours back to Helensburgh.
Cove & Kilcreggan 10k Run
Same route as last year. A mixed terrain run with cracking views down the Clyde Estuary. We start on pavement running along Shore Road then Argyll Road before climbing up onto the forestry track for a slow climb to the half way point. Then rewarded with mostly a downhill run from then on. Caution is needed as this has rough ground, steps near the end of the 10k and also a potentially fast descent on the forestery track. Chip timed. Suitable for both road and trail shoes. Water available at the beginning , near 4km and 6km point. Toilets and bag drop available at the start/finish. Lovely medal and cakes available too, very important!
First 15 entries are only £15 after that it is £22.50 or £20.50 for Scottish Athletics members.
Should you feel the urge, there will be an opportunity to go for a dip in the loch after the run. As with the run, this is entirey at your own risk but is a safe, sheltered bay frequently used by local dippers. Remember to bring your swim wear, shoes and towel. Just to reiterate this is entirely at your own risk, Cove & Kilcreggan 10k cannot take any responsibiity for swimmers.

Cove & Kilcreggan Junior Fun Run
This is a short 1.3km dash but includes a hill and steps so a little challening for the younger runners. No dogs or prams as they are a trip hazard.
Start and finish at The Cove Burgh Hall. Starts 11am
We have set a participant age limit of 6 years old. Children under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult. Children 10 years and over do not need to be accompanied by an adult, but can if they would like to be.
Please note prams/buggies are not allowed.
Medals for every participant and prize for each age group winner.
