Organiser's Description

Event Information

Join us for our first Cove & Kilcreggan 10k Run or Walk round our beautiful peninsula. We start and finish in the heart of Cove at the Cove Burgh Hall where you will register and there are toilet facilities. The route is mixed terain, starting on the flat along road and pavement then turning up onto the forestry track which is undulating dirt track with lovely scenery. The forestry track will be a little challenging as it has a slow incline but once you reach the 5km point then it's a satisfying downhill run on the track then pavement all the way back to the hall.  You can also enter to walk the 10k which will set off before the runners at 1pm, so if someone you know might fancy joining you for a walk then they can do so and also receive a lovey medal. The run is for 17 year olds and upwards and the walk is for 8 year olds and upwards.  Entry for the run is £20 for an adult or £18 for Scottish Athletic Members and the walk is £15 for adults £5 for kids who are up for the challenge. In future we would like to be in a position to offer the walk for free and hope you understand that these costs reflect the cost of running the event and that you are happy to be part of it.

Starts 1pm for Walkers and 2pm for Runners.. A warm welcome awaits you.

Registration from 12 noon, tea, coffee and cakes for sale from 12 noon until the end or we run out!

Toilets available at registration at Cove Burgh Hall where you can drop your bag.

Parking is limited at the start and finish so we recommend using public transport or car share. Parking is available at the Cove Burgh Hall and the Cove Sailing Club a short walk from the start.  The bus leaves Helensburgh at 12 noon getting in to Cove at 12.38 giving you time to register for either the walk or run , get to the toilet, drop your bag and have a walk or a cuppa. Buses leave every 2 hours back to Helensburgh.

A mixed terrain run with cracking views down the Clyde Estuary. We start on pavement running along Shore Road then Argyll Rd before climbing up onto the forestry track for a slow climb to the half way point. Then rewarded with mostly a downhill run from then on. Caution is needed as this has rough ground,  steps near the end of the 10k and also a potentially fast descent on the forestery track. Not chip timed. Suitable for both road and trail shoes. Water available at the 5km point and toilets available at the start/finish. Cakes available too, very important!

Enjoy a walk on road and trail, on flat and hills. A good challenge as it is not completely flat, with a slow climb when we get to the foresty track. Water will be provided at 5 km. Sorry no dogs as they are a trip hazzard, but means you don't have to keep stopping to pick up their parcels. We have set a participant age limit of 8 years old. Walk will start at 1pm. Medals and cake at the end.Toilets at the start/finish in Cove Burgh Hall.

Please note this route includes both steps and uneven terrain and is not suitable for prams/buggys.

We hope you understand there is a £15 entry fee for adults and £5 for children. This contibutes towards the costs of running the event and hope that you are happy to pay this to be part of the event.
