Welcome to the third Chapelton of Elsick 10K - an accurately measured route.  This is an undulating multi terrain race through the beautiful Elsick House estate, starting and finishing in the village of Chapelton near Newtonhill.  Please read our race notes thoroughly to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable race.  The majority of the route is on tarmac with some farm tracks and a short grass section, and remains unchanged from 2019.

All standards of runners are very welcome!

Registration: Will take place from 09:00 - 10:45am at The Hut, Greenlaw Road, Chapelton.  All pre-entered runners must register on the day to collect their race number.  T-shirts will also be collected at registration.  Chapelton is located on the opposite side of the A92 from Newtonhill.

Chip Timing: This years race is chip timed, provided by Thistle Timing. 

Race Briefing: There will be a race safety brief at 10:55am.

Start Time: The race will start prompt from near Hume Square at 11am.

Race Finish: The race will finish near Hume Square. 

Water Station: This will be just after the 5k point.

First Aid: Provided by St Andrews First Aid at both the Start/Finish area and at the Water Station.

Headphones: We cannot permit the use of in-ear headphones, as part of the route is on a single carriageway road that is not closed to traffic. Bone conducting headphones and medically prescribed earphones are permitted, the use of all other in-ear headphones will lead to disqualification.

Refreshments: Available at Hume Square after the race for all runners, and available to purchase during the race for spectators. Six°North will be @ Hume Square where they are providing a free beer taster to all runners who show their numbers (over 18's only). 

Toilets: Available close to start/finish area.  There will be no showers.

Prize Giving: Will take place from 12:30pm at Hume Square.

Prize Categories: Trophies (and £50 £25 £15 respectively) for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female finishers, and trophies (and cash prize) for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female under 18, over 40, over 50 & over 60. A trophy will be awarded to the first Male and Female Chapelton resident to finish. All finishers will receive a unique medal and t-shirt.

Entry: £19;with a £2 discount for scottishathletics members (note JogScotland membership does not qualify for a reduction). This is predominantly online entry at Entry Central, and online entries will close on the 15th June 2020 to allow t-shirt order or once the 400 spaces are filled.  

Entry Transfer: If you can no longer take part in the event, we are allowing transfers which must be carried out via your own Entry Central account by our deadline of 15 June 2020.

Kids Fun Runs: At 10am there will be a 100m toddler dash for under 5s, and a 1km race for primary school children, organised by Friends of Newtonhill (FON).  Every child will receive a bespoke medal.  Registration takes place at Liddell Park (behind The Hut).  For more information and pre-registration (preferred) email

General Information: There is plenty parking available in and around Chapelton village and will be clearly sign-posted.  There will be no baggage facilities.

Please follow all instructions from the marshals as they are there to ensure your safety.

Online entries will close at midnight 15th June. EntryCentral will show the race as 'Closed' after this time. Entries will not be accepted on race day.
