The Race

Join us for the Bodenham Bound – Winter 2027, our popular winter trail run set within the stunning grounds of Bodenham Arboretum.

This year, we are proud to be raising money for HELP, our local homeless charity, supporting vital work within the community, and Harkaway Scout Group.

Take on either a 5km or 10km route (2 laps of the 5km course), featuring a challenging and varied multi-terrain course. Situated at the convergence of three valleys, expect hills, woodland trails, open ground, and a few harder surfaces as you run the boundary of the arboretum.

Important Notes

Own Risk:
This is a challenging, multi-terrain trail course. All runners take part at their own risk and should ensure that they are appropriately prepared and dressed for the weather and ground conditions.

10K Cut-Off:
The race starts at 9:00am.

For safety and event management reasons, runners must have started their second 5km lap by 10:00am to continue to complete the 10km event.

Any runner who has not started their second lap by 10:00am will not be permitted to continue onto the 10km course and will be recorded as completing the 5km event.

Weather & Ground Conditions:
This is a winter trail event and conditions may include rain, mud, frost, ice, snow and slippery or uneven ground.

The event will go ahead in normal winter conditions. However, the safety of runners, marshals and volunteers is our priority, and severe weather, unsafe ground conditions or other circumstances beyond our control may mean that the event cannot safely take place.

If the event cannot go ahead on Sunday 3 January 2027, it will be postponed to our reserve date of Sunday 17 January 2027.

If you are unable to attend on the reserve date, you will be able to transfer your place to another runner free of charge, subject to the transfer deadline that will be provided at the time.

If we are also unable to safely hold the event on Sunday 17 January 2027, the event will be cancelled.

Cancellation, Postponement and Refund Policy

Bodenham Bound is a charity fundraising event organised by Harkaway Scout Group, with proceeds supporting the Scout Group and HELP, our local homeless charity.

As a volunteer-run fundraising event, we incur considerable costs in advance, including medals, equipment and other event expenses.

Our winter event is scheduled for Sunday 3 January 2027, with a reserve date of Sunday 17 January 2027.

If adverse weather, unsafe ground conditions or circumstances beyond our control prevent the event from taking place, we reserve the right to postpone or cancel the race.

Our policy is that entry fees are non-refundable, including in the event of postponement or cancellation.

By entering, participants acknowledge and accept this policy and understand that entry fees help cover the costs of staging the event and support our charitable fundraising.

As a small charity event, having to refund entry fees after costs have already been incurred could leave the Scout Group significantly out of pocket and jeopardise future events.

We want everyone to enjoy a fantastic run, but safety must always come first. If Mother Nature decides otherwise, we hope you'll support the spirit of the event and remember that your entry is helping two fantastic local causes.

Thank you for supporting Bodenham Bound – it's about more than just a medal!

Timing

We will be using a barcode scanning system. While this works well, it may not be 100% accurate if runners switch between the 5km and 10km on the day.

If timing is important to you, please also use your own timing device.
