Alford Mini Bull Run & Relay Run

This Festival is in a testing state, and is not open for public sign-ups until the organiser has launched it.

Organiser's Description

Welcome to the Alford Mini Bull Run and Relay Run 2023 – a fun run open to all preschool and primary age children (and parents!), set in Aberdeenshire, organised on behalf of the Alford Primary Parent Council.

The Alford Mini Bull Run & Relay Run comprises of five fun runs of differing lengths from preschool age to 12 year olds, as well as parents!

 The trails take place in the Flower Meadow at Haughton Park (beside the Trim Track and river). The routes allow for spectators to be present around the course.

 

RACE DETAILS:-

Registration is beside the Flower Meadow – the registration tent and routes are all signposted on the day.

All finishers will receive a goody bag and medal.

Race timings are as follows:

"The Toddle"  a 300m walk/run for parents accompanied by preschoolers! 10.00am start. Please note there will be an Alford Bull character running alongside them!

600 metres for ages 4, 5 and 6 – 10.30am race start.  Please note that the children will be chasing an Alford Bull character to encourage them to run.

900 metres for ages 7, 8 and 9 – 10.50am race start.

1200 metres for ages 10,11 and 12 – 11.10am race start

600 metres for the Relay Run for teams (one parent, and one child aged 12 and under) - 11.30am race start

Children may run with parents, however adults do not receive a goody bag at the finish (sorry parents!). 

Warm ups are 15 minutes before each race starts - led by Elevate-U-Fitness, no other than the talented Lyndsay van der Starre!

 

ROUTES:-

All runs are on narrow grassy paths on the Flower Meadow, within the grounds of Haughton Park, with the kind permission of Aberdeenshire Council. 

By entering this race, you acknowledge the run is a genuine trail race with natural hazards. Every effort will be made to highlight the hazards but parents and children should be aware of the inherent risk of running in a natural environment.

 

ENTRIES:-

All proceeds go to Alford Primary Parent Council, to purchase sports equipment and to support sports clubs at the primary school.

This is not a timed event, only a fun run!

All races £5, via Entrycentral only, which includes a medal and goody bag. There are no overall prizes for winners. 

Relay teams pay £5 per team - Please use the adult name for signing up for the Relay Run - teams must contain one adult and one child aged 12  or under.  Please note a child will only receive one goody bag on the day, regardless of how many runs they take part in.

Please note pre on-line entry only and NO entries will be accepted on the day.  There are no refunds.

 

On-line Entries close Monday 18th September 2023.

 

All children must be accompanied by an adult on the day (but not necessarily in the race!).

 

REGISTRATION ON THE DAY:-

Registration will commence from 9.15am and close 15 minutes before the race time to allow time to warm up. Numbers and safety pins will be issued at registration, please ensure you write your emergency contact details on the reverse.

Please give yourself plenty of time to walk down from the car parks to the registration area.  

 

RACE START & FINISH:-

All runners must be at the Start/Finish line at times noted above - an announcement will be made shortly before.

All races start and finish at the Flower Meadow.

Timing devices are not issued for this event, it is the responsibility of the runner to time their own runs.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:-

Health and Safety

Clear route maps will be posted for all routes.

All routes are extensively sign posted and well marshalled. Safety is paramount and we expect runners to follow the advice of marshals at all times. The route is a trail race and underfoot will contain a variety of hazards including uneven surfaces including tree roots and stones. Please be aware of this prior to entry.

Please respect that strictly no dogs are allowed on the race routes.

 

Parking

Car parking is available at the Haughton Park carparks and at the Alford Village Carpark. Please note that car parking is limited in the Haughton Park so leave enough time to find a space or consider car sharing.  There will be no parking at the caravan site which is private, nor along Montgarrie Road.  Runners local to Alford might consider walking to the venue.

Registration is in the field beside the Flower Meadow and will be clearly signposted on the day.

Please note there is 5-10minute walk from the Haughton Park car parks to the routes (the field beside the Trim Track and Flower Meadow, down by the river), and a 10-15 minute walk from the village carpark.  There will be no access to the routes from Montgarrie Road entrance, only through the Park itself.

There is no parking beside the routes. 

Disabled entrants will given be access via the gate from Montgarrie Road at the bridge.  Please advise the organisers early if this is the case.

 

Facilities

Toilet facilities are available at two sites in Haughton Park (namely a block beside each car park). The toilet blocks at the caravan park are not available for public use as they are private.  Please note THERE ARE NO TOILETS BESIDE THE ROUTES.

 

Recycling & general waste

We try to be a plastic free event so please bring you own water bottles and fill up at the water tanks provided.

Please also bring your own coffee/tea mug if you would like refreshments from the Parent Council stall - there will be a discount if you do!

Please ensure that all rubbish is collected and deposited in one of the many bins that will be provided.  Please try to recycle where possible and take home recyclable items where possible.

 

Photographs

If you do not wish for photographs taken on the day to be used for publicity or during a slideshow of the event, please advise organisers, either on the day or tick the relevant box on sign up.

 

Refreshments

Each runner will receive a medal and a goody bag (please note there is one per child regardless of how many runs they take part in).

Homebakes and hot/cold drinks will be available from 9.15am in gazebos by the meadow with all proceeds going toward school funds.
