Morning Session: Yoga and Movement for Runners with Nick Constantine, Yoga Teacher and Snr Chi Running Instructor
Afternoon: Chi Running with Jon Burdon, Chi Running Instructor and Trail Running Guide
Join Nick and Jon for a day to develop your journey as a runner. Jon is an experienced runner and has been using Chi Running as his primary coaching approach for over 5 years. Nick has coached Chi Running for about 8 years to Triathletes, national and international athletes, young and old, injured and recovered runners. In that time Nick has developed the Chi Running concept and integrated many other disciplines.
The main aims of the morning session are the following:-
- to introduce the idea of what a physical yoga practice is and how it can support your running and overall movement.
- To practice some key asana (physical movement) in the time
- to introduce the idea of meditation and breathing techniques and how it can help you when running
- To introduce the idea of what a yoga practice can give you.
I have been a running instructor for 10 years (with Chi Running) and a yoga practitioner for 20 years, culminating in a teaching qualification with Kridaka Yoga this year. I also hold a PE postgraduate qualification in sports coaching and have coached most of my life. Runners come in all shapes and sizes, the fastest runners I have coached were a 15m 12" 5K female and a 1h 3 min half marathon male, both just failed to qualify for the Olympics.
