Y Fenni - Blaenafon Triathlon!
WELCOME TO THE 34TH YFENNI - BLAENAFON TRIATHLON.
This Year we have an 800m pool swim, 32 mile bike ride including the Tumble Climb, and aN 8.7 mile 1800 ft of climbing Trail Run to the top of the Sugar Loaf Mountain and back.
To quote race founder Dr Gareth Buffett - "A triathlon to my mind should be a challenge, an adventure going somewhere different and feeling you have achieved something at the end of it." For those of you that have competed in this event before, you will know that this vision is well catered for. For those of you planning your first attempt - be prepared for an adventure!
The most relaxing part of the race is the pool swim :-), followed by a tough bike, which will include the infamous tumble climb towards Blaenafon, then head out to Brynmawr, beaufort, a very cheeky climb indeed over llangynidr moors with a fast descent, eventually ending up on a fast flat homeward bound trip on the Brecon road towards Crickhowell, and then finally home to Abergavenny.
Then the finale, we are going to the TOP of the Sugar Loaf Mountain. The run has 1800ft of climbing, this is tough, You will need to Train Hard and Good Luck!
Please see our website for further details, or contact the Club directly with any questions. Please also join us at the free (for competitors & race crew) post race buffet and presentation.
There will be Strictly NO Refunds this year everyone. However, if you suffer a bad injury with still at least one month to go, then at the organisers discretion, they may defer you to the following year. This is totally at the organisers discretion, however if it is under one month to go to the event start, then there will be NO Deferral.
We look forward to seeing you!
Mike Hill & Team.
