Ron Hill West Highland Way Training and Inspiration Evening

Wednesday 27th February 2019 – 7.00pm-9.00pm(ish)


 Tollbooth Arts centre, Jail Wynd, Stirling FK8 1DE

 An informal evening of advice and inspiration for anyone or their support crew tackling this iconic epic challenge for the first or tenth time or any similar or shorter ultra challenge like the Highland Fling, Devil o' the Highlands etc

As always , we aim to provide a full 2 hours of information and inspiration to help send you home, with some new ideas to help you prepare better for whatever challenges you have ahead.

 JAMES STEWART. How to train for the West Highland Way

 The likable West Highland Way winner in 2016 in 15:15:59 and current Great Britain 24 hour International, James will run though how he approached his first West Highland Way.  What worked well and what didn’t.  What advice he would give now to someone preparing for their first WHW or wanting to improve on their last one.

HELEN AND JOHN MUNRO on crewing and supporting at West Highland Way & other adventures

Helen & John are two well known faces on the Scottish ultra running scene. They have supported each other in this and numerous other ultra's around the world. They will give a short presentation on the do's and dont's of crewing, drawn from their many years experiece. 

SEAN STONE; Ultra running: What could possibly go wrong…?

Sean has been part of the Race medical team for over 15 years He will take you through a selection of the potential medical problems and hazards that may impact on your ability to complete the distance. Sean is well placed to advise on what warning signals to look out for when running distances of 50 miles plus, and the common injuries and medical pitfalls to avoid.

NICOLA ADAMS-HENRY. 2018 Ladies Champion who made a huge improvement to record 17:55:41 in her 2ndWest Highland Way and become the 4thfastest lady over the course

 DAVID MCLURE. 2018 race winner, and Scottish 100km international, at home on the roads or the trails, who improved by two and half hours at his second attempt!!

JAMIE AARONS. 2015 Woman’s Champion, with a best time of 18:24:10. Finisher of the Tor des Geants and Goretex Trans Alpine race

 NORMA BONE To date, Norma is the oldest female finisher of the West Highland Way with a best time of 30:00:30 form her 3 finishes. She is getting faster too!
