Welcome to the Tri Dog Event series Duathlon hosted by Tri Dog UK. This is the entry portal for the Duathlon being held on the 14th & 15th January 2017

 

Venue: Red House Farm, Longdon Marsh, Tewkesbury, GLOS, GL20 6BD

Briefing: 8.00 am each day, 1st rider off at 9am. (Timings may vary depending on weather conditions)

Times will be combined from days 1 and 2 and awards given for top 3 in each class.

Entry fees: £20 per class per day or £30 for entry in one class for both days.

Camping: £7 per unit per night.

RULES  - Our rules will be published in detail on our website www.tri-dog.com

Our website www.tri-dog.com will have the full updated rules and regulations available for you to read at least 2 weeks before the event but the main points to note are:
 
AGE GROUPS: Are for runners age on the day of the race.
 
DOGS: Dogs must be over the age of 18 months on the day of the event to compete in any class and be fully fit, showing no signs of illness or injury. If any any doubt please consult your vet. A dog may only run in one full course event per day but a human can run a 2nd class if they want with a different dog. Dog welfare will come first in all circumstances and your dog must be used to working in harness and be fit enough to complete the full course up to 8km for the open and up to 5km for novice and junior classes.
 
EQUIPMENT: Dogs must be attached to the runner or bike at all times during the race and a suitable harness, bungee lead, waist belt and bikejor arm must be used during the event.There will be equipment available to purchase over the weekend, with some hire kit available on a first come first served basis for a small fee. If you are in any doubt about the equipment you currently have please do check with us at tridogevents@hotmail.com before coming to the event.
 
The wheeled section of the course can be completed with either a bike or scooter but please bear in mind that only one dog per class can be used, so if you choose to scooter then your dog must be able to pull the scooter on it’s own with your assistance.
 
DISTANCES: The distance for all classes except Juniors and Novice will be 6km – 8km TOTAL for bikejor & canicross combined. The distance for Juniors and Novice will not exceed 5km TOTAL for bikejor & canicross combined
 
EVENT STRUCTURE: The event will begin with the wheeled course of between 3 and 5 km and the transition area will be to move from the bike or scooter to the canicross. Competitors will be asked to slow down coming into the transition and then dogs and bikes or scooters walked to the stake out line in the transition area. The transition area will be marshalled but your dog must be comfortable with being attached to a stake out line while you place your bike in the designated bike drop area. If you do not feel comfortable with this, you may bring a helper who knows your dog to stand in the transition area while you drop your bike but they must not be seen to assist you in any way. The dog will then be secured to the stake out line to enable competitors to drop their bike or scooter and change any equipment they need to for the canicross. The dogs can then be collected from the stake out line and walked to the edge of the transition box where competitors will be allowed to run for the canicross section which will be between 3 and 5 km.
 
Please note that the TOTAL for the wheeled course and canicross course will not exceed 8 km but the course distances for each discipline within that 8km may vary dependent on the weather and conditions.
 
AWARDS: Prizes will be given for 1st to 3rd in each category and categories are as follows:
 
SENIOR MALE 19-39
SENIOR FEMALE 19-39
VETERAN MALE 40+
VETERAN FEMALE 40+
JUNIOR 11-14
JUNIOR 15-18
NOVICE (please enter novice if this is your first dog sport event and / or first time in a wheeled class)
 
FACILITIES: Please respect the private land we are using. Clean up after your dog in all areas on and off the course. Toilets will be provided for your convenience and we hope to have a stand tap available but will inform everyone prior to the event if bringing your own water supply is necessary.
 
CATERING: We hope to have catering facilities available throughout the weekend providing hot breakfasts, lunches, dinners to order and snacks throughout the day. The local area also has a wide range of pubs, restaurants and shops for supplies to choose from, within a 10 minute drive of the race venue.
 
CAMPING: Camping is available for tents, and vans at £7 per unit per night. Please do not allow your dogs to dig up the camping field and fill in any holes.
 
INSURANCE: The race will be covered by event/public liability insurance but all racers and spectators attend the event and run at their own risk.
 
CANCELLATION: Should the races have to be cancelled or postponed for reason beyond the organisers control or in the event of bad weather - the organisers reserve the right to take expenses already incurred from entry fees before using any remaining moneys to refund entrants.
 
NOTE it is the entrants responsibility to check the race is still on before travelling, the organisers will, post on the Tri Dog facebook page, and email all entrants if there are any last minute changes - please check your email before travelling.
 
SAFETY: Please listen to the race briefing and marshals instructions. If your dog(s) are likely to be noisy and excited please do not bring them to the race briefing so that everyone can clearly hear safety instructions. Human and dog first aiders will be available at all times on site and there is a 4WD that can access the course. An Emergency Vet will be available and details will be with the race organisers.
 
MARSHALLS: Please email the race director if you have a member of your party who would be prepared to marshall. Marshalls will recieve a meal voucher and a thank you gift.
