An spectacular route of 6 miles of fantastic running with some breathtaking views. Probably one of the best off road routes on Dartmoor! Starting and finishing at Fox and Hounds Hotel near Lydford. Also incorporating two Junior Races.
Called 'the flyer' as the descent may be the closest thing a runner may come to flying - of course everything that comes down must first go up !?
Wednesday 21st August 2019, Seniors start at 18:45 pm, Juniors U9 & U11 at 17:30 and U13 & U15 at 18:00
- Best Times for the course: Not yet set - expecting sub 40? but who?
- Awards for normal ages groups.
- The run will be limited to a maximum of 120 competitors
- Minimum age limit for this event is 16 years.
Tavistock AC and Tamar Trail Runners are pleased to stage this evening fell race with 2 supporting younger age group events.The event has an FRA licence and all junior courses are marked and marshaled, senior course will only be partially marked. We are welcoming anyone with an interest in off-road running to this new event.
Junior 8-11 yrs( age on day) 2k with 120m of ascent, starting at 5:30, 50p entry on day only.
Youth 12-15 yrs, 4.0k with 150m of ascent, starting at 6:00, 50p entry on day only.
Adults Race 16+yrs 8.0k, with 300m of ascent, starting at 18:45, £7 entry on-line plus 50p booking.
1st place prizes for each junior and youth age category - awarded at 7:15pm.
Adult race prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd finishers and winners of U23, and normal vet categories hopefully by 8:30pm.

All junior entries are on the day, closing 20 minutes before each race starts. Senior entries on the day will be £9.
Toilet facilities will be available and refreshments available in the pub after the event.
Adult course will take track to Gt Nodden tor and continue on track to split ( checkpoint) with Sourton tor, continue on track all way past Gt Links until it levels out ( checkpoint) then across to Great links ( thats the end of the up!). A fast descent directly to Brat tor ( mind stoney section halfway down Gt links) and then an even faster decsent from Brat tor to stepping stones. Follow the stream back up towards path that leads you back to Fox and Hounds. This a short Cat A race. A whistle is advisable and a light rainproof top is recommended. No additional kit required. How to enter
- Pre-Entry fee for Seniors is £7 plus 50p booking fee. (£9 on the day)
- Entry for Junior races is 50p and only on the day. Register 20 mins before race.
- Deadline for entry will be Thurs 18th July.
