The Tartan Trek
The TARTAN TREK is a supervised walk, on Saturday, 6th of May 2017. The walk will take place around Balmoral Estate, focusing on the many landmark cairns, offering varied scenery and stunning views of Balmoral Castle.
You can opt to do the short 3.5k family friendly walk or the more challenging and scenic 10k walk. The shorter walk is fully accesible by wheelchair and push chair, while the longer route is off road and hilly in places, but offering fabulous views of Royal Deeside from many of the high points.
Both routes offer fantastic views of Balmoral castle, and finish through the castle gates.
There is an additional option on the 3.5k route to take part in the trail to "Find CLANCY" along the way, to help encourage children explore the route to see if they can spot our mascot CLANCY hiding in the Queen's woodlands!
Children under the age of 16 can enter free of charge, but MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. Please enter your family under the accompanying adults name. You can enter the children's names in the entry form free of charge, up to three children per paying adult. Those children entered with the accompanying adult on the entry form must be accompanied by the same adult on the day of the trek.
REGRETTABLY NO DOGS ALLOWED
The aims of the walk are:
1) to raise awareness of the facilities that CLAN Cancer Support offers to those affected in any way by cancer,
2) to show that gentle exercise can be beneficial even for those who are unwell, and
3) to boost funds to enable us to continue to offer our support and wellbeing services free of charge to those in the local community.
10k route minimum £10 donation/ 3.5k minimum donation of £5.
Under 16s are free but must be accompanied by an adult.
Under 16s must be entered on the entry form under the accompanying adults name.
Some walkers may feel that they would like to use the opportunity to seek sponsorship for the walk in order to help our fundraising efforts. An official sponsorship form can be requested via email to Ballater@clanhouse.org or by calling CLAN house on 01224 647000.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in addition to their entry fee may do this at the same time as the entry fee payment online. Please be aware For online transactions, EntryCentral applies a 5% surcharge to your charity donation. Almost all of this surcharge goes to the banks and payment processing servers that EntryCentral uses. At the time of writing this surcharge is cheaper than the surcharge applied at the charity specific website justgiving.com which applies 5% + VAT + 1.45%.
There will be no surcharge if you decide to send the organiser a cheque or hand in a cash donation on the day of the event instead of paying online.
Closing date for online registration is Thursday 4th of May, (or by post).
