Selkirk Ultra and Half Ultra Trail Races
13 May 2017
Welcome to the entry pages for the Selkirk Ultra Trail Run and Selkirk Trail Half Ultra
Come and join us in the beautiful Scottish Borders for a set of tough, hilly and 'proper' off road Trail Races - the SELKIRK ULTRA and the SELKIRK HALF!.
Ultra Distance: 44km (almost completely off tarmac), with 1290m of climb. Proper!.
Half Distance: 24km (almost completely off tarmac), with 545m of climb. Decent!.
Race date: Saturday 13th May 2017
Brought to you by Selkirk-based Durty Events (Craggy Island Triathlon, Aviemore Triathlon, Borders Bike Festival) and renowned trail-builder Peter Laing, this epic run comprises the very best off-road trails in the spectacular Scottish Borders. Expect big climbs, technical descents, glorious riverside trails and winding woodland paths.
Trail shoes are recommended as the course is off-road (very off-road in places), and often muddy, steep, rocky or rooted. It's 'proper' challenging off-road running.
You will be winding in and out of the Tweed and Yarrow valleys and their forests and moorland. You will visit the historic Bowhill House and the nearby 'Duchess' Drive', and pass the spectacular ruins of Newark Castle. The Half then returns to the finish line whilst the Full Ultra scales the heights of the Three Brethren (464m above sea level) and descend (then climb again - sorry!) Yair Forest. The final few km's will be an exhilarating drop back into Selkirk.
The course will be fully way-marked.

- Fully marked course
- Chip Timing (Sport Ident 'Dibber')
