Polar Bear Express

24 Nov 2018

Welcome to the Polar Bear Express.

The full course takes in a good chunk of the Downs Link from Guildford to West Grinstead where a train carriage and polar bears mark the turnaround (and marathon finish). It's a relatively flat 50 mile course. The start will see the sun rising over the North Downs and is quite fast. The finish will be more challenging but also spectacular for the majority who will finish in the dark. Checkpoints approximately every 8 miles.

The marathon is point to point. There will be limited optional transport from the finish to the start on the morning for £10 (book when you sign up). Checkpoints approximately every 8 miles.

It is possible to enter the Ultra or marathon in a relay team.

There is also a short(er) race plus a 1 mile fun run starting and finishing at West Grinstead.

Important note: the majority of the self navigated course follows the Downs Link (signed but not fool proof), is off road, some road sections and there are multiple road crossings.  Care must be taken at all times, you are responsible for your own safety and for following the course as shown online.  Please ensure your race number is on your front and that you have been checked in at each aid station.  There will be cut-offs for your safety.

Results will be available online as soon as possible after the event.  We will always aim to have provisional results published within 24 hours.

A final mail we be sent out during race week, please check this for any changes or extra info.  The mandatory kit list for Ultra runners is detailed below.
