Stranraer Rotary Mull of Galloway Marathon Trail

09 Jun 2018

This Festival is in a testing state, and is not open for public sign-ups until the organiser has launched it.

Organiser's Description

Welcome to the Stranraer Rotary Mull of Galloway marathon trail, one of only a few in Scotland. It is generally a good path and now well waymarked. There is no scrambling and no large ascents. The last 6 miles are in part on very quiet roads with little traffic. The trail is so scenic looking over Luce Bay and Loch Ryan with views over Ailsa Craig and Arrran in the distance.

There are 2 courses, the longer is marathon length, the shorter is the last 10 miles of the trail and easy going. The entry fee includes transport beforehand and a barbecue with complimentary drinks for afters. If you have anyone who would like to join you for the food afterwards a donation to Rotary's charity fund is all that would be needed.

Walkers: particularly on the short course, are welcome.

Registration:  Will take place from 1800-2000 on the Friday before and from 8-10 am on the Saturday morning. This is at the marina office at Stranraer harbour where the race finishes.

Parking: There is a free and large public car park near the marina office and therefore close to registration / the finish line.

Race Briefing: There will be a race safety brief at the race start to go over any safety issues and answer any questions.

Start Times: Mull of Galloway (marathon) starts at 10am and Sandhead (10 miles) is at 11.30am

Race Finish: Both races finish at the marina office in Stranraer where showers and changing facilities are available.

Water and energy stops: These are located approximately every 5 miles.

Refreshments: There will be a barbecue with complimentary drinks included in the entry fee; there are spectacular views over Loch Ryan towards Ailsa Craig and Arran to help you recover while you eat and drink.
