"Wee Beastie" Novice Event

400m Open Water Swim – 7 Km Off-Road Cycle - 3 km Run



Bikeless Beastie

This event is for everyone, It is open from 15 years and older. 750m open water swim in Loch Lomond followed by a 5k run through the scenic castle grounds. A great event for newbies to the sport and the more elite competitors alike.



Water Beastie

A great oportunity to gain experience in open water swimming events, we have a 400m event, a 1/2 mile event and a full mile event all suitable for over 15's and upward. Loch lomond is a great place to gain experience and a lovely place to swim.

Beastie Sprint & Wee Beastie Novice

These unique events involve an open water swim in Loch Lomond. Followed by a challenging cycle on both paths and off road surfaces through rugged wooded landscape on the shores of beautiful Loch Lomond. The bike route is only suitable for MOUNTAIN BIKES. The run is through the scenic castle grounds.


This is an ideal festival event for entrants looking for either a challenging Open Water /Off Road Triathlon or beginners new to the sport who want to get involved in their first open water novice event - Great Family day out as the Loch Lomond Highland Games are held on the same day

Entry Fee Wee Beastie Novice Event - £30 (£5 discount for Tri Scotland/ BTS members) 

How to get there & parking - The event takes place at Balloch Castle Country Park, Balloch. Please park at the car park at the top accessed via Mollanbowie Road, there will be signs of how to get to transition from there,-4.5739378,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x4888536a8cc7682b:0x9da8ccf569d6a14d


The Rules - No Helmet - No Race. No Wetsuit - No Race. Please adhere to the highway code at all times when on the bike. No draughting. Make sure your bike is mechanically safe. Only competitors and marshalls allowed in the transition area. All events will be held under the rules of Tri Scotland. You have to be able to confidently swim the distance of your event in open water before entering.

Tri Scotland Members - You MUST present your Tri Scotland card at registration or we will have to charge you the £5 day license fee.

 The Finish - Once you have completed your race there will be a finishing gift for all competitors, a prize giving and our festival village with food stalls and stalls will be up and running. Those competing on the Saturday can wander over to the Loch Lomond Highland Games.
