Leslie Kaminoff - Online Yoga Masterclass
7th and 8th November 2020
Kridaka Yoga are delighted to welcome Leslie to share his wealth of knowledge, for his fourth (and virtual) visit to the UK. This will be taking place online aimed at Scotland, the UK and European Yoga community.
The workshop will take place over 2 days on the 7th and 8th of November, 2020.
The teaching will begin at 10:00am each day till approximately 5pm. Registration will begin at 9:15am on the Saturday and Sunday.
Awakening Our Inner Resources – Proprioception and Interoception in Yoga Education:
By recognizing that the fundamental job of a yoga teacher is to help students re-inhabit their bodies, we can make a few key changes to transform our teaching language into a more empowering experience for our students. Specific classroom strategies that promote better body awareness will be re-imagined and demonstrated for commonly-taught practices.
A discussion of long and short term skill-sequencing will also help prioritize teaching choices for students of every level of experience. Ample time will be devoted to addressing specific questions and concerns.
Creative Chaos in the Classroom: Spirals, Fascia and Fluids:
Yoga is typically practiced on rectangular mats in rectangular spaces making it very easy to impose a linear geometry on our bodies completely at odds with its true nature. There are no straight lines in the body, and we can’t “square off” parts of our anatomy. In fact, we don’t actually have “parts” at all.
This workshop will explore – through practice and inquiry – how to tell a different story about our bodies; a story of spirals, fluids, continuities, chaos, and freedom. Breaking out of the “tyranny of the rectangle” can lead to breakthroughs in how we move, feel and think about our embodied existence.
The Sage's Seat - The Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga, Meditation, and Pranayam:
Drawing inspiration from Patanjali’s royal eight-limbed path, this workshop will explore and illuminate the embodied basis of seated meditation experiences. When our relationship to gravity is at maximum efficiency, our body’s inherent structural equilibrium provides sufficient support so our metabolic requirements draw a minimum of resources from breathing.
This eclectic session covers topics that range from anatomy and physiology to effective preparation for sitting postures to chanting and visualization techniques.
Less Talking More Doing - The Theory of Mostly Practice:
This is a full-length practice session (2+ hours) with a minimum of lecture. Simple body and breath warmups will be followed by a session of seated breath/bandha practice. A standing vinyasa series will flow into floor work, modified inversions, twists, backbends and forward bends, concluding with a full savasana, followed by quiet sitting. Brief introductory and concluding remarks will frame the session.
