Kaim Hill Race 2020
15 Apr 2020
This race is organised by North Ayrshire Athletics Club a registered charity and affiliated member of Scottish athletics.
7 pm Start Time - Under Scottish Hill Runners generic rules and permitted by Scottish athletics
Pre-entry by 10th April 2019 or whenever the race limit is reached, whichever is earlier. Please enter asap to avoid disappointment. Entries will be accepted on the day of the race only if the race limit is not reached but will incur a £1 charge. Please note there was no entry on the night available last year and is anticipated that this event will again sell out before the race day.
Please arrive early to collect your number and to allow sufficient time to get to the start of the race.
The start and finish of the race takes place from Castlepark Drive only a few minutes walk from the primary school grounds.
Registration takes place within Fairlie Primary School, and will open at 6pm on the day of the race. Changing and toilets are available at registration but is very limited.
The race starts with a short section of level tarmac, before heading up a scenic narrow winding trail. At the top of the trail there is a tricky burn crossing, before a climb up a steep bank gains you access to the open hillside, covered with rough heather and tussocks. The summit of the hill is set back a further than you'd expect, and once round the trig point, you return the same way. The race is approx. 5.5km with a climb of approx. 380m.
Limited parking is available within the grounds of the primary school.
