Intro to Trail Running (Dusk til Dark)

Sunday 20th October 2019, 6:30pm

Darkness brings another dimension to trail running, changing the landscape and offering a new and exciting experience.
This 1.5-2 hour session starts during twilight, allowing a short period of running in natural light before donning the head torch and venturing on to the darkened trails.

During the session we'll touch on the basics of:

• Running Technique - warm up, foot placement, posture and cadence.
• Running during darkness / low light.
• The Ups & Downs - safe and efficient ways to take on steeper ground.
• Technical Terrain - we'll discuss some different types of terrain you may encounter (loose ground, rocks & boulders, deep mud) and how to safely navigate them.
• What Next - essential kit, offsetting the demands of trail running, strengthening, and reducing risk of injury.

Required Experience:

If you can Parkrun, you can Trail Run!

Sessions are suitable for those new to running, or regular runners just wanting a new experience. During the run we'll cover 5-7km depending on group ability, with regular stops for discussion, rest, or simply to enjoy our surroundings.

It's important to note that the entire session may be carried out during low light conditions so a suitable headtorch will be essential. You should be comfortable running whilst wearing a headtorch and this should not be the first time you have done so.

Your confirmation email will detail any kit requirements / recommendations, along with an itinerary for the day.


Please note: Minimum numbers are required to allow this workshop to take place. Should the required numbers not be reached and the event cancelled, your entry fee will be refunded in full.
