Heddington 5k - JULY
Tuesday 14th July 2020
**** Please note, this will enter you into the JULY Heddington 5k****
We are constantly reviewing the best course of action to take with regard to the 2020 Heddington 5k series and the impact COVID-19 will have upon this.
We have already cancelled the June event and many of you will be entered into this (July) event as a result of your entry being deferred from the June event.
Whilst we work through what the current situation will mean for the Heddington 5k series, we are not accepting any transfers or processing any refunds at the present time. This is due to the likelihood that further changes may take place as we move forward.
We will work to keep you constantly updated and will issue more information in due course. For now, the very soonest the Heddington 5k series will kick off will be the 14 July. The below information is presented on this basis.
Setting off circa 100m beyond the Charles Willis Hall (SN11 OPH), the route takes in a downhill start before levelling out to get yourself well on your way to what will be three quick miles. At 0.8 miles in you bear right and continue along a flat fast 0.5 mile before bearing right once again at Broads Green. From here you will continue along a couple of straight sections of country road for 1 mile before hitting the junction of Stockley Lane/Stockley Road. From this point you will again bear right to carry along Stockley Road along flat country lanes for 0.8 mile heading back towards the heart of Heddington to the finish, which is outside the Ivy Inn, perfect for those of you who feel an alcoholic beverage will be the ideal way to celebrate your achievements around this flat, fast route.
Please note this race is run in a "stripped back" style. We at Calne Running Club simply want people to get out and enjoy their chance at achieving a PB around this course. The race has a UKA race permit and a certificate of course accuracy, along with suitable medical cover and plenty of water at the finish.... and chip timing courtesy of LPS Events! In an attempt to keep races in the runner's diary that are cheap yet still enjoyable, you will not receive any memento at the end. However, you will receieve a sweet treat to get your energy levels back up! Your small entry fee simply goes into the organisation of the event, ensuring it is safe and enjoyable for all.
For 2020 the race has a UKA race permit. Courtesy of the UKA race permit, the results will appear on the Power of 10 / Run Britain rankings.
