Organiser's Description

Butterfield GSA Fort Grey & Portelet Distance Event 2018

This is an open water swim event which will be held in the bays surrounding the beautifully picturesque sights of Fort Grey & Portelet in the Channel Island of Guernsey.

There will be wetsuit and non-wetsuit categories.

Friday 15th June 2018   7:15pm start

1.1km &  2.4km

The 1.1km course will be swum one way starting in deep water by Fort Grey slipway, passing behind Fort Grey, around the Portelet pole, finishing at Portelet Beach.

The 2.4km course will be swum starting in deep water by Fort Grey, around a pole (almost opposite Rue des Salines), passing behind Fort Grey, around the Portelet pole to finish at Portelet beach.

These swims are open to anyone who is over the age of 18 on the day of the event and who is competent swimming in open water.

All swimmers should wear a wetsuit for added buoyancy and safety. If you wish to swim without a wetsuit you must confirm your intention to do so by answering the non-wetsuit question at the end of registration and acknowledging the non-wetsuit disclaimer. This will then need to be approved by a GSA organiser.

If the sea temperature is below 16 degrees all swimmers may be asked to swim in a wetsuit.

Parking and Access

This event starts at Fort Grey and finishes at Portelet Beach. Parking is available at Portelet, on the roadside between Fort Grey and Portelet and after 5.30pm at The Guernsey Pearl.
