Glen Scotia Mull of Kintyre Marathon 2019
07 Sep 2019

Organiser's Description
After the success of the inaugral Glen Scotia Mull of Kintyre Marathon in Spring 2017, the famously hilly route returns to challenge every ability of runner on Saturday 7th September 2019. The route remains unchanged, starting and finishing in Campbeltown, at the Ferry Terminal.
The course entirely run on the road/pavements and the route is a loop out of Campbeltown, down through rural Southend and back into Campbeltown over some of the Kintyre Way route where you will witness some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland. It is HILLY. This is a challenging marathon route that has at least 5 hills that are beyond 350 feet elevation. Many of the hills are in the last 8 miles. We expect all runners taking part in this to have previous long distance running experience and advise that the cut-off time will be 6.5 hours maximum. No walkers permitted for health and safety. This is run on open roads.
RELAY TEAMS
There are very limited spaces for relay teams of 2 or 4. Teams of 2 will roughly do a 1/2 marathon each, changing in Southend and teams of 4 will do approximately 6.5 miles each. Details of each changeover and checkpoint will be issued in race packs.
A full Welcome Race Pack including information about registration, relay teams, refreshments and prizegiving will be emailed to all entrants two weeks prior to the event but in the meantime, some key information can be found below:
Registration
Registration will take place from 9am to 9.45am at the Ferry Terminal - all details will be confirmed in your welcome race pack. It is hoped to have chip timing. Relay teams must also register at this time. Transport will be provided for relay members to specific changeover points but if you can provide your own transport please let the organisers know asap.
Refreshments
There will be 4 official water stops throughout the course. Argyll Bakeries will be at the finish area to supply all participants with soup, rolls, tea/coffee and some tasty treats to refuel your glycogen reserves!

Health and Safety
The route will be well marked and monitored by marshals. Relay teams will have specific points for changing over and will be given further details in the welcome race pack.
