Fauldhouse Aquathlon (Juniors, Youths & Adults)

Organiser's Description

West Lothian Triathlon present the GRC Fauldhouse Aquathlon for Juniors, Youths & Adults

We are excited to welcome you back to our aquathlon race after the merger between West Lothian Triathlon Club and GRC Triathlon Club!

The event is open to juniors and this year for the first time a limited number of youths and adults.

The event comprises of a pool swim followed by an outdoor run.  Swim and run distances are determined by age group.  The run course is totally traffic free and marshalled, ensuring competitor safety at all times.  All run distances will be marked as well as being marshalled.

The event will be held at the Fauldhouse Partnership Centre.

Approximate Race Timetable 

8:15am - Registration opens. Registration will be open until 30 minutes before the last wave start time.

8:30am - Transition opens

9:10am - Race briefing for first wave.

9:30am - First wave start time 

2:00pm - Prize Giving

Juniors

The Junior Aquathlon is open to competitors aged from 8 to 16 inclusive - based on competitor's age at end of this year.  The race distances are as follows:

11-12 TriStar 2 250m 2km
13-14 TriStar 3 400m 3km
15-16 Youth 400m 3km

Triathlon age groups are based on age at end of the year. e.g. If you're 11th birthday is coming up this Winter then you'll race in the 11-12 age group, even though you'll only be 10 on the day of the race. This ensures that you race against the same people all year.

Please note: we are unable to make any alterations to the swim lanes / swim times once the event has closed or on the day of the event - so please do ensure you give an accurate estimate.

For the juniors, the race continues to form part of the Triathlon Scotland Tristars and Youth Aquathlon Series.  Many of the current performance programme athletes started out competing in aquathlons, but it is also a great opportunity to meet and make new friends.

The entry cost for the Junior event is £20.

 

Youths & Adults

The Youth & Adult Aquathlon is open to competitors aged 17 and over - based on competitor's age at end of this year. 

Please note: we are unable to make any alterations to the swim lanes / swim times once the event has closed or on the day of the event - so please do ensure you give an accurate estimate

The race distances are a 750m swim followed by a 5km run.

The entry cost for the Youth & Adult event is £35.

 

Additional Information 

Spectators: Spectators are very welcome, however, please remind them that they are not allowed in the transition area at any time.  There is a small spectator area in the pool.

Photography: Photography is prohibited in the swimming pool and changing areas.  Anyone seen taking photographs in these areas will be asked to leave and delete any photos taken.

Photography on the run course is permitted, but the directions of marshals and race officials must be followed and photographers must respect the privacy of all competitors and others.

Rules: This race is held under the rules of Triathlon Scotland and the British Triathlon Federation - see http://www.britishtriathlon.org/about 

Covid-19: Additional measures will be implemented due to COVID-19 as necessary and in line with guidance from Triathlon Scotland.

Refund Policy:

At the organiser's discretion, refunds (minus the Entry Central and any other admin or card processing fees) will be issued to any competitor who withdraws as follows:

  • Withdraw before 1st September 2022 = 100% refund
  • Withdraw after the 1st September 2022 = NO REFUND

If the race is cancelled by the organisers for any reason (including things such as Covid) 75% of the entry fees will be refunded to competitors (minus the Entry Central and any other admin or card processing fees).  We all hope this doesn't happen!

Gender Inclusion Policy:

West Lothian Triathlon Club is committed to inclusivity in sport. We welcome non-binary athletes at our races and we are planning to implement Triathlon Scotland's new policy and the new 'open' category when it comes into force in 2023.

Prices

To sign-up for this event, the Service Fee is 4% (min 50p) for each sign-up

A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for participants who are not a British Triathlon Home Nation member. For this event, Race Pass costs are £6.00 for participants aged 24 and under, and £12.00 otherwise.
