About Perth Active Charity Races
Perth Active Charity Races are a family organised, non profit 5K (£10) walk/run, 10K (£15) and Half Marathon (£23) which are one, two and four+ ‘figure 8 shaped’ laps (respectively) of the beautiful North Inch Recreation Park that skirts the stunning river Tay in Perth to raise money for important charities.
All proceeds from entries will be donated to Save the Rhino and For Rangers and no profit is gained from these events.
About Save the Rhino
Save the Rhino International works to conserve viable populations of critically endangered rhinos in Africa and Asia.
They recognise that the future of wildlife is inextricably linked to the communities that share its habitat.
By funding field projects and through education, the goal of Save the Rhino is to deliver material, long-lasting and widespread benefits to rhinos and other endangered species, ecosystems and to the people living in these areas.
The aims of Save the Rhino are:
To increase the number of rhinos in genetically viable populations in the wild
To enhance the integrity of ecosystems
To ensure that local communities benefit from conservation activities
Primary objectives of Save the Rhino:
To provide financial support for on site projects focused on all five of the rhinoceros species
To encourage and enable the sharing of information, experience and skills between rhino programmes, ex situ and conservation organisations
To measure and improve the effectiveness of Save the Rhino's grant-making and charitable activities
To raise awareness of the need for rhino conservation and communicate the work of Save the Rhino
About For Rangers
In partnership with Save The Rhino International, ForRangers are a dedicated group of individuals who are aiming to raise funds and awareness to ensure that rangers across Africa, who risk their lives daily to protect Africa’s endangered species, are adequately equipped with top-quality basic equipment, well paid, incentivized and trained.
Wildlife rangers are on the frontline of conservation. Yet, despite the importance of their work, and the dangerous situations they deal with, rangers often don't have the appropriate kit, training or support.
In the past decade, it's estimated that more than 1,000 rangers have been killed in the line of duty with many more severely injured.
Founded in 2015, For Rangers was a concept developed by Sam Taylor and Peter Newland, with a view to undertaking extreme endurance events to raise funds and awareness for Africa’s rangers - everyday heroes who put their lives on the line so that our wildlife can continue to exist.
For Rangers have provided than US $2m worth of kit, equipment and training, provided to 2,500 rangers across sub-Saharan Africa.
They have provided 1,200 life insurance policies
and over US $200,000 worth of training to rangers across Africa.
They have assisted in 30 operations throughout 14 African countries.
