59th Tom Scott Memorial Road Races

02 Apr 2023

This Festival is in a testing state, and is not open for public sign-ups until the organiser has launched it.

Organiser's Description

The 59th Tom Scott Memorial Road Races will once again see hundreds from far and wide travel to Strathclyde Park to take part in one of two races, the 10 Mile Championship race and the Round the Loch.

Both races take place over the paths around the Strathclyde Park loch. Owing to some course changes for this year, there are a few new undulations but the majority of the route remains flat.

The 10 Mile race has been notorious for fast times in recent years, frequently recording some of the best 10 Mile times in the UK for the calendar year and featuring prominently in the end of year rankings.

The Round the Loch is a run between 6 and 7 kilometers dedicated to those who prefer a slightly shorter distance - from serious club runners to those simply looking for their next challenge!

Medical Condition

This race is over ten miles which is an extreme test of an individual’s physical and mental strength and has with it the potential for serious injury. All participants are strongly advised to consult their doctor prior to undertaking any exercise programme or running event. Weather in early April can be very changeable and entrants could be exposed to risks from dehydration. It is the responsibility of all participants to ensure that they are medically fit to participate in the race.

Precautions will be taken to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. Participants will be taking part at their own risk.

Course

The race comprises of an approximately 6-7k / 10 Mile route around the Strathclyde Park. Due to the course's characteristics it has historically produced a high number of new Personal Best times, whilst the leading male and female athletes typically feature towards the top end of the British end of year rankings.

There will be some changes to the race routes this year (particularly on the north-eastern side of the Loch) but the majority of the route will remain the same as it has been in previous years.

The closing date for entries will be midnight on Saturday 18 March 2023.

The 10 Mile race has an entry limit of 500 whilst there is a limit of 100 for the Round the Loch.  Please note we do not accept entries on the day of the race or any late entries
