Forth Road Bridge 10K August (EV8) has now closed and you will not be able to sign-up for it. Please check the Organiser's Description for any organiser updates.
This event is in a testing state, and is not open for public sign-ups until the organiser has launched it.

Organiser's Description

The second of two Forth Road Bridge 10K Road Races will take place at 10:30am on Sunday 21st August 2022 from North Queensferry Community Centre.

This is a UKA licensed event and the course has an official course measurement.

The race will adhere to all Covid guidelines. Should any changes be made, these will be emailed to you prior to the event.

EVENT REGISTRATION

There will be no on-the-day registration. Race numbers and timing chips will be sent out approximately one week before the race date by Perfect Timing.

PARKING

  • There is no parking at the Community Centre, we would recommend parking in the multi-storey car park at the Ferrytoll Park and Ride (Hope Street, Inverkeithing KY11 1HN). The Ferrytoll Park and Ride is a 15 minute walk from North Queensferry Community Centre so please leave yourself sufficient time.
  • To access the NQ Community Centre from the Park and Ride head towards the Forth Road Bridge using the pavement that runs alongside the motorway. To the left of the bus stop just before you reach the bridge is a set of stairs that take you up to North Queensferry. At the top of the stairs follow the path that passes the playpark and the community centre is on your right.
  • Where possible, please car share (Covid restrictions pending) or use public transport. Stagecoach buses to Park&Ride stop at the bridge.

CHANGING FACILITIES & TOILETS
There are no changing facilities or showers available within the Community Centre. You can leave a bag or kit however this is at your own risk. The organisers accept no responsibility for loss of clothing or equipment. There are toilets in the Community Centre.

RACE
The race starts outside North Queensferry Community Centre and finishes at the North end of the Forth Road Bridge.

Please assemble at the start point by 10:20am.

Note the start is quite tight so please start at the marker relative to your predicted finish time.

THE COURSE
The course follows an undulating route through North Queensferry and down to Jamestown where you will now encounter an "out and back" section of approximately 600m, before heading out over the Eastern walkway of the Bridge. The course then heads down the service road that heads under the bridge emerging on the West walkway whereby you head North back across the bridge to finish at the Fife Bridgehead.

Please clear the finish area as soon as you can, as you will be standing close to high speed traffic. Spectators can have a good view of the finish from the steps leading up to the Community Centre. Return to the changing area and your car by using the steps leading down and under the bridge, again this will be signposted. Unfortunately the race is unsuitable for wheelchairs.

HEADPHONES

As this race is on open roads, the use of headphones (other than those medically prescribed) WILL NOT be permitted, with the exception of bone conducting headphones which can be used. Any runners wearing in-ear headphones will face disqualification.

REFRESHMENTS
There will be a self-serve water station (recyclable cups) on the course. Please dispose of these carefully. Do not drop them either on or over the bridge. If you require any additional water pre-during/after the race then please bring your own.

Sadly there is no post-race buffet this year, there will however be grab-bags with a snack and your medal.

RACE PRIZES

To avoid crowd gathering, we don't plan a prize-giving this year. We have a sizeable prize fund across male and female categories, and prizes will be sent out in the post.

RESULTS
The race results will be available on the Pitreavie AAC website at www.pitreavie-aac.co.uk and on the Scottish Athletics website at www.scottishathletics.org.uk.

EVENT CANCELLED

Please note that in the unlikely event of there being high winds on the day, the Forth Road Bridge Authority has reserved the right to cancel the race and if in doubt you should listen out for local radio announcements on the morning of the race and also check the club website and facebook page:

http://www.pitreavie-aac.co.uk/index.php/events/forth-road-bridge-10k

https://www.facebook.com/pitreavieaac/

If the event must be cancelled then all runners will automatically be deferred to the 2023 event, unless a full refund is requested. There will be a closing date for refunds.

As we are a registered charity with monies raised going to club funds, we would hope to keep refunds to a minimum.

TRANSFERS/WITHDRAWALS

We will not manage transfers or respond to any requests for transfers, however if you are a registered user on Entry Central you can manage your own transfer. You will need to have added the new person to your User Account with Add Person. Then, you can Change Person on the sign-up.

The last day that transfers are allowed is Saturday 30th July 2022.

If you are unable to race and are not organising a transfer, please contact us to formally withdraw. We do not offer a refund or deferral for a withdrawal.
