Organiser's Description

The Great Notley Spring Duathlon is promoted by Born2Tri. It is based at Great Notley Country Park in Braintree, with the attraction of a beautiful parkland venue but very accessible with good road links from the A120 and A131, along with ample parking. We will have access to changing and café facilities within the Discovery Centre with competitors toilets adjacent to transition. The race starts and finishes with a 4km run within the confines of the country park. You will run on a mixture of grass and surfaced paths, with a challenging hill included in the run. The transition to the cycle section is on a grass area adjacent to the access road. The cycle course is all ‘on road’, consisting of two 10km laps offering a fast but enjoyable ride through Rayne, Willows Green and Great Leighs before returning to the centre for the final run. The manageable distances and traffic free run course makes it an ideal race for novices and young competitors, minimum age 18yrs on race day. All the course will be well signed and marshalled and it will benefit from chip timing.

Trophies will be awarded for 1st place male / female in the catgories Open (U40) & Vet (over 40).

No details are posted to athletes unless by special arrangement.

Further details about the race will be placed on the Born2Tri website (www.born2tri.com) as we get closer to the race day.

Race instructions will also be placed there, if you do not have access to the internet they can be posted by special request to the organiser. Race instructions will be online and will be emailed in the week before the race only.

Racers who are not members of British Triathlon must purchase a ‘day licence’ at a cost of £6 to provide insurance for your event (this  fee is automatically added if you do not provide a British Triathlon membership number on entering).

Withdrawal Policy - Born2Tri acknowledge racers will on occasion need to withdraw an entry through injury or other reason.  The cut off dates for refunds will be 4 weeks prior to the race itself (6th March 2022) where a refund will be made less a £5 administration fee.  After this date there will be no refunds available.

Contingency Plan - Due to the current climate it is understandably very difficult as a club to anticipate the restrictions in even October. Every effort will be made to put this event on where we reserve the right to alter, move the date and postpone as required. We would not normally offer refunds however if it is decided to do so these would be less the cost to the club for abortive fees, such as supplier deposits. The event is run by a local Triathlon Club rather than a business.  In the event of part of the course being unavailable to the organiser on the day, for reasons beyond their control, an alternative course will be provided to allow a competitive event to take place. Should we be unable to provide a suitable safe alternative course due to reasons beyond our control and the event be cancelled Born2Tri will not provide refunds.
