Welcome to the Scurry2Bridges Run 

Saturday 14th August 2021

Scurry Events is proud to present the inaugural Scurry2Bridges run - a mixed terrain 161km / 100 mile team running relay

The route starts by joining the recently renovated majestic Dundee waterfront, passing the RRS Discovery and V&A before crossing the Tay road bridge and following the scenic Fife coastal path around Tentsmuir nature reserve. Then on through St Andrews before zig-zagging past historical coastal fishing villages and spectacular wild natural landscapes on your way to crossing the Forth Road bridge. Finally passing by Cramond island and along Edinburgh's Silverknowes waterfront to finish celebrating with your team as you cross the line in the World of Football off Marine drive.

The perfect way to reconnect with running friends, family and colleagues in the late summer of 2021.

Relay Race teams of 4 with 1 car self-driven from checkpoint to checkpoint

16 legs, 161km’s, 100miles. 

4 stages each from 4.50km to 13.5km in rotation, totalling 35km to 45km per runner.

Friday 13th August

Registration 1 -  18.30 – 20.30pm (location tbc)

Saturday 14th August

Registration 2 -  05.00 -06.00am (Riverside pitches / Magdalen Green)

Race starts 06.00 to 07.00am

12 noon – Expected first runners reaching stage 8

17.30 / 18.30 onwards – Expected first runners crossing the finishline

20.50 – head torches and high viz to be worn by all runners after dark

Sunday 15th August

02.30 - 03.00am- Expected last finisher crosses the finishline

The prices include an exclusive Scurry2Bridges t shirt for each team member, bespoke finishers medal for each team member, race chip timing and results (all stages timed), race numbers, Scurry2Bridges team car number, a team of over 80 marshals and event crew along the route (all of whom receive charitable donations for a number of different charitable organisations), car parking charges in stage car parking areas, costs relating to preparing and organising the race, toilets at most stage changeovers, water stations, downloadable maps with race legs in GPX format, first aid teams and raynet communications, team prizes and sponsor discounts.

We ask that your team are able to run within an average pace of 7.00 minutes per km or 11 minutes per mile. Runners must record on sign up a 10km time in the past 2 years of less than 1hr 10 minutes for a mixed terrain run. 

Your race start will depend on your average team 10km time. 

Runners must be 18 years or older. Runners under 18 can apply by specific request through the website link http://scurry2bridges.co.uk/contact/  and will need a parent in the team and alongside after dark.

How do I sign up?

It is easy – First find your team of 4.

Create a team name or club name and appoint a team lead or captain

Fill out each team members individual contact details and t shirt size

The race order for your team will initially be determined by the name order recorded on entry central sign up i.e. Your lead or captain as runner one and so on.

Record each team members approx. 10km time e.g. 42 minutes, 58 minutes etc. An average will be taken for your team in order to work out your best start time. We ask that your team are able to run within an average pace of 7.30 minutes per km or 12 minutes per mile. Runners must record on sign up a 10km time in the past 2 years of a max of 1hr 10 minutes and the team of average less than 1hr.

Entry price

£65pp (£260 for a team of 4)

The next 20 teams:

£68pp (£272 for a team of 4)

and £74pp thereafter (£296 for a team of 4).

Cancellation If this event cannot go ahead due to COVID 19 restrictions and Sports Scotland guidelines then we will aim to defer your team entry to a similar date in 2022.  Should your team not wish to be transferred into 2022 then you must email Scurry Events within a 14 days of the original scheduled 2021 date and we will arrange to refund your team entry less a 10% admin fee and Entry central.

If the event is cancelled for reasons out with the organisers control e.g. in the event of extreme weather, a major incident or other events out with our control then the race may be cancelled and given the complexities of organising this event we may only be able to transfer the race to a similar date in 2022. In the event of this race being cancelled your entry will be automatically transferred to a rescheduled date. This date will be decided by Scurry Events. If you are unable to make this date then a 75% refund (less Entry central fees) can be made. You will need to email within 14 days of the 2021 event date for this to processed.

In the event of abandonment, postponement or cancellation of the event, we will have no responsibility for any costs incurred because of cancellation, including travel or accommodation costs. 

Once the event has started then no refunds or transfers will be made.

Participant withdrawal / Refund policy

If for any reason after registration a team member wishes to withdraw from the event then any time up until 7 days from the date of the event you can login to entry central and organise a transfer with a replacement member. Members or teams who do not attend the event will not receive any form of refund/credit. During the event: no refunds will be given.

Full teams wishing to withdraw must inform the organiser by email. Team entry fees will be refunded or transferred as follows; up to (1 month prior to race date) 75% refund (less any Entry Central fees), up to (2 weeks prior to race date) 50% refund (less any Entry Central fees). After (2 weeks prior to race date) – no refund.

 

Unfortunately, we cannot make changes to the above for any local area Covid lockdown scenarios and normal participant withdrawal / refund policy procedures will be in place. If a competitor has to self-isolate over the event date the above participant withdrawal / refund policy procedures will be in place.  For full national lockdown scenarios please see 'cancellation' conditions above.

Scurry Events is proud to present the inaugural Scurry2Bridges ultimate ultra solo 161km / 100 mile challenge

The route starts by joining the recently renovated majestic Dundee waterfront, passing the RRS Discovery and V&A before crossing the Tay road bridge and following the scenic Fife coastal path around Tentsmuir nature reserve. Then on through St Andrews before zig-zagging past historical coastal fishing villages and spectacular wild natural landscapes on your way to crossing the Forth Road bridge. Solo entries entries will first be invited onto a waitlist.  Runners must then need to meet certain criteria submitting a race CV to info@scurryevents.co.uk before being invited to run. There will be cut off times and an overall 21 hour time limit.

All solo runners will also need to be self sufficient throughout with a back up crew or driver meeting them at checkpoints along the route similar to the team relay competitors.
