Welcome to the 2024 Scurry Around Corstorphine Hill 10km, 5km and 1km family fun trail running event.

Scurry Events are hosting this event. A contribution from the trail runs will go towards supporting the Friends of Corstorphine Hill (SCO28842).

Registration 8.30am - 9.30am (and up to 11am for the 1km fun run)  in the Juvenate Health and Leisure Club around the back of the Leonardo Edinburgh Murrayfield hotel.

5km Race Briefing 9.35am by the start / 5km race start time at 9.40am

10km Race Briefing 9.50am by the start / 10km race start time at 9.55am

Prize Giving 11.10am / 1km Race Briefing 11.25am / 1km Family Fun Trail run start time at 11.30am 

The runs will be clearly marked and marshalled off road routes for everyone to enjoy. Both the 5km and 10km trails will follow a 1 lap (5km) and 2 lap (10km) course starting in the field opposite the Leonardo Murrayfield Hotel and following challenging routes around Corstorphine Hill.

The Corstorphine Hill family fun run will be a 1km grassy trail circuit following a marked badger signed trail before crossing the field to the same finish line as the adult competitors.

Registration is in the Juvenate Health and Leisure Club around the back of the Leonardo Edinburgh Murrayfield hotel.

Active Root will be providing a post race drink and all competitors will receive a race momento.

Corstorphine 10km Trail Run

Corstorphine Trail Run 10K

VENUE 

Leonardo Murrayfield Hotel, 187 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh EH12 6UG . Please do not park in the hotel carpark. There is ample on street parking in neighbouring streets such as down Drumbrae drive and on Clermiston road. Please take extra care crossing Clermiston road to the race start and finish area.

THE COURSE

The 10km route is a 2 lap mixed terrain course starting and finishing from the grassy field opposite the hotel. You will follow mixed terrain trail paths around the Corstorphine Hill nature reserve. 

ENTRY FEE

10k (min. age 16yrs on the day of the run)        

£21.00 via entry central (first 30 entries)

£22.50 via entry central (next 40 entries)

£23.50 up to the 2nd March 2024.

Online entries preferred. Limited on the day entries £27.00.

Race Numbers will be issued at registration.

We reserve the right to start the prize giving once 80% of competitors complete the course.

Health and Safety

This is a trail run, you will be running on some uneven surfaces for example on the tracks through woods. Runners should come adequately prepared for uneven woodland trails, tarmac, grass and mud surfaces.

All routes are extensively sign posted and well marshalled. Safety is paramount and we expect runners to follow the advice of marshals at all times & take all reasonable precaution.

Please be courteous towards public dog walkers and other path users as they have equal rights and access to trails and paths in and around the nature reserve.

This course is not suitable for Canicross runners - please no dogs.

The 5 and 10km trail courses are not suitable for push chairs, baby prams or run buggies. 

Every competitor is asked to confirm their safe arrival back at the finish desk even if they have not been able to complete the course.

First Aid / Injuries

These events can be strenuous, and the organisers cannot accept responsibility for any accidents or injuries. A First-aid team will be available at the Start and Finish areas. Anyone withdrawing during the event must report to the finish team.

Emergency Contacts

Please ensure you write your emergency contact details on the reverse of your race number.

Car Parking

Come by public transport if possible. Once the hotel carpark is full there is nearby on the road parking.

Facilities

Toilet facilities can be found in the hotel (please enter through the Adam Suite) and in the Juvenate gym. The organisers accept no responsibility for loss of clothing or equipment.

Kit and valuables:  You are responsible for your own kit and valuables. If necessary, there will be a small bag tent by the finish line to leave kit for after the race. Please only bring what you will race in to the start line. The organisers accept no responsibility for loss of clothing or equipment.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded in the 10km and 5km to the first 3 male and female runners and the first O40 male and female and 1st junior male and female (in the 5km) - unless in the top 3 overall and then a roll down applies. No fun run prizes awarded.

GDPR: By signing up to this event you agree that we may publish your personal information as part of the results of the event and may pass such information to the governing body if applicable or any affilliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, licences or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times, occupation and age category. I agree that my contact details can be used to communicate with me for matters relating to the organising of this event, including but not limited to, updates on event planning and results (including links to social media event groups) and for communication about holding of this event in the following year.

Cancellation: In the event of extreme weather, the race may be cancelled and if possible re-arranged for a later date. In the event of this race being cancelled and rescheduled your entry will be automatically transferred to a rescheduled date. This date will be decided by Scurry Events (most likely the following week). If you are unable to make this date then a 25% refund can be made (you will need to email within a month of the event for this to processed). However, should the council not permit a resheduled date within a short timescale and the resource not be available or the weather still unpredictable to reschedule within a month from the scheduled date then we will have no choice but to cancel and offer no refund.

In the event of abandonment, postponement or cancellation of the event, we will have no responsibility for any costs incurred because of cancellation, including travel or accommodation costs.

Participant withdrawal / Refund policy: If for any reason after registration you wish to withdraw from the event: Any time up until 30 days from the date of the event you can login to entry central and organise a free transfer with someone you know or email for a 50% refund. Between 30 days and 14 days from the event you can login to entry central and organise a transfer with someone you know or email for a 25% refund. No refunds will be given within 14 days. Participants who do not attend the event will not receive any form of refund/credit. During the event: no refunds will be given.
