ENTRIES

Entries are now open on Entry Central will remain open until 19th October.

Entrants must be at least 18 years of age on the day they run.

Your run must be done on any day (or night if you're daft enough) between 1st November and midnight on 30th November 2022

Competitors can run or walk the route (no bikes)

Please note that entries are non-refundable and not transferable.

Costs for this event have been kept to the bare minimum covering just medals, postage and small prizes and the Pentlands Land Managers Association (PLMA) have agreed not to charge the V7R for access to the land for this event.

The PLMA help to maintain the infrastructure, promote biodiversity and support responsible access to the Pentlands, and competitors are encouraged, if they wish, to make a donation to PLMA at https://pentlandmanagers.org

The PLMA pledge that these funds shall be ring-fenced for work conducted towards either biodiversity or infrastructure projects within PLMA member’s land area as and where need arises.

RULES

The run must be completed over the full race half marathon route in one single attempt. Your time can be accepted on an honesty basis but, if you wish to be included in results, you MUST submit a screenshot or download of your run. This MUST be of elapsed/race time and NOT moving time. (No stopping your watch for a picnic, rest or swim) IMPORTANT: This must be submitted on the SAME day as your run as detailed below.

UPLOADING YOUR RUN EVIDENCE

You can submit evidence of your run time in one of two ways:

1) (Preferred) Go to your Entry Central account and view your Sign Up Details for Harmeny AC 7R Multi Terrain Virtual Half Marathon.

Scroll down the page until you see Virtual Event Activity Log and click on "Change" then "Add new activity"

You can provide links to your activities on Strava, Garmin or Training Peaks - each activity must be set to 'Public' so that the organiser can review it.

2) If for whatever reason you are unable to submit your run information please send an email with the details to the race email address which you will find in your email confirming your entry.

If you don't have a running watch, and can't borrow one, you can download Strava or similar on a smart phone

Only one run will be accepted from each competitor (It's not best out of three)

Entries submitted after midnight on 30th November 2022 will not be accepted.

THE ROUTE

The route includes smooth trails, some tarmac, rocky trails, bog/marshland and possibly shallow water crossings.

You can start or finish at any point on the route, so long as you complete the whole course, and must go in direction of race (anti-clockwise) If you do not start at the official start/finish you must still complete the out and back section on the path between Harlaw and Threipmuir reservoirs turning at the gap in the wall where the south east path round Harlaw Reservoir joins this path.

Don't even think about dropping litter and remember that the route may also be getting used by walkers, dogs, cyclists, horses etc. Have consideration for others. Although the route is near Edinburgh remember that parts of it are fairly remote and it's normally a lot colder on the hill. Weather can change quickly and you're strongly recommended to carry at least a spare jacket and a space blanket as, hopefully, you would on any hill run.

A GPX of the route and full description of route is available on the race website and Facebook page, and you can view the route on MapMyRun here

If you don't know the route it might be wise to recce any bits that you're not sure of prior to your timed run.
