Welcome to the 4th Vogrie (Tyne Valley) 10km, 5km, and 1.6km family fun trail running event.

Scurry Events is hosting this event at Vogrie Country Park.

The trail runs are clearly marked and marshaled mixed terrain routes for everyone to enjoy. 

The 5km is 1 lap and the 10km 2 mixed terrain laps around the countryside estate paths, woodlands, and the Tyne Valley. The race start and finish will be set in front of the Victorian baronial manor house.

Post-race drink and snacks. Race memento.

Hot and cold drinks and refreshments will be available in the Tree top cafe

THE COURSE

The 10k route is two 5km laps of a mixed terrain course around the countryside estate paths, woodlands, and the Tyne Valley. The race start and finish will be set in front of the Victorian baronial manor house.

ENTRY FEE

10k (min. age 16 on the day of the run)        

£21.00 via entry central (first 25 entries)

£22.50 via entry central (next 35 entries)

£23.50 up to the 20th of January 2024.

Online entries are preferred. Limited on-the-day entries £27.00.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Getting there by public transport: There is no public transport that will take you directly to the park. Lothian buses will take you as far as Gorebridge a two-mile walk to the park along the B6372.
The Borders railway line stops in Gorebridge also.

Getting there by road: Coming from the A68 take the B6372 and drive through Dewarton, the park is signposted from the main road. The main entrance to Vogrie is signposted and the entrance will be on the left. From the A7 take the B6372 at Gorebridge and the park is approximately two miles along on the right. Please note that from 1st April 2019, the car park barrier will be in permanent operation. The exit fee for each car is £2 - you will need this in coins.

Your vehicle and belongings are your own responsibility and the organisers accept no liability for loss, damage, or theft.

Competitors must leave time to walk from the car park to the registration by the start line in front of Vogrie house (a 5 to 10-minute walk).

Clear route maps will be posted on our Facebook page two weeks prior and at the race registration. 

Race Numbers will be issued at registration.

Health and Safety: This is a trail run, you will be running on some uneven surfaces for example on the tracks through woods. Runners should come adequately prepared for uneven, tarmac, grass, and mud surfaces.

All routes are extensively signposted and marshalled. Safety is paramount and we expect runners to follow the advice of marshals at all times & take all reasonable precautions.

Please be courteous towards public dog walkers and other path users as they have equal rights and access to trails and paths in and around the reserve.

To ensure safety the wearing of earphones is strictly prohibited. 

This course is not suitable for Canicross runners - please no dogs.

The trail courses are not suitable for pushchairs, baby prams or run buggies. Run buggies are fine on the fun run.

All children in the fun run under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Every competitor is asked to confirm their safe arrival back at the finish desk even if they have not been able to complete the course.

First Aid / Injuries: These events can be strenuous, and the organisers cannot accept responsibility for any accidents or injuries. A First-aid team will be available at the Start and Finish areas. Anyone withdrawing during the event must report to the finish team.

Please ensure you write your emergency contact details on the reverse of your race number.

Facilities: Public male and female toilets can be found in the main carpark and down by the children's play area along from Vogrie house.

Kit and valuables:  You are responsible for your own kit and valuables. If necessary, there will be a small bag tent by the finish line to leave the kit for after the race. Please only bring what you will race into the start line. The organisers accept no responsibility for loss of clothing or equipment.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded in the 10km and 5km to the first 3 male and female runners and the first O40 male and female and 1st junior male and female (in the 5km) - unless in the top 3 overall and then a roll down applies. No fun run prizes will be awarded (all fun fun competitors receive a medal).

We reserve the right to start the prize giving once 80% of competitors complete the course.

All 10km and 5km competitors will receive a race memento.

Active Root will be providing a post-race drink with additional water, bananas, and a tribe bar after the finish. 

Results: The full official results will be put onto the event's website and Facebook links provided ASAP and emailed to competitors. Chip timing may not be used for this event however, finish times will be issued after the event online. Should an accurate or backup time be required runners should wear their own stopwatch.

GDPR: By signing up for this event you agree that we may publish your personal information as part of the results of the event and may pass such information to the governing body if applicable or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, licenses, or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times, occupation, and age category. I agree that my contact details can be used to communicate with me for matters relating to the organising of this event, including but not limited to, updates on event planning and results (including links to social media event groups) and for communication about holding of this event in the following year.

Cancellation: In the event of extreme weather*, the race may be canceled and if possible re-arranged for a later date. In the event of this race being cancelled and rescheduled your entry will be automatically transferred to a rescheduled date. This date will be decided by Scurry Events (most likely the following week). If you are unable to make this date then a 25% refund can be made (you will need to email within a month of the event for this to be processed). However, should the council not permit a rescheduled date within a short timescale and the resource is not available or the weather still unpredictable to reschedule within a month from the scheduled date then we will have no choice but to cancel and offer no refund.

In the event of abandonment, postponement, or cancellation of the event, we will have no responsibility for any costs incurred because of cancellation, including travel or accommodation costs.

Participant withdrawal / Refund policy: If for any reason after registration you wish to withdraw from the event: Any time up until 30 days from the date of the event you can log in to entry central and organise a free transfer with someone you know or email for a 50% refund. Between 30 days and 14 days from the event you can login to entry central and organise a transfer with someone you know or email for a 25% refund. No refunds will be given within 14 days. Participants who do not attend the event will not receive any form of refund/credit. During the event: no refunds will be given.
