Welcome to Arthur’s Seat Sprint and Novice Distance Aquathlon!
Hosted by Edinburgh University Triathlon Club, this is a new event giving athletes the opportunity to race around the most iconic landmark in Edinburgh. The race is open to everyone: with a pool-based swim and a hilly run around Arthur’s Seat showcasing the best views in Edinburgh. We also have a novice distance event with a flat run course, perfect for those getting into the sport. The race will take place at St Leonards Land Swimming Pool (Holyrood Rd, Edinburgh EH8 8AQ) with a finish line on the Parade Ground.
Things to Note
Registration will be open 8:00-8:45am, the First Heat will start at 9am. Presentations will have finished by 1.45pm.
If you do not have Ultimate or Core BTF membership valid on the day, you will need to purchase a race licence as an add-on in Entry Central, or go to the BTF website to purchase this – they will no longer be available to purchase at the race. Prices are £8 for adults (ages 25+) or £2 for children and young people (16-24).
Arthur's Seat Aquathlon - Novice Distance
Welcome to Arthur’s Seat Novice Distance Aquathlon!
The event this year will feature a Novice Aquathlon wave, this is suitable for people who are new to the sport or don’t want to do the Sprint distance. It is a great stepping stone to future triathlon endeavours. The race will consist of a 400m pool swim and a 2.35km run up and down Duke’s Walk in the shadow of the Salisbury Crags, finishing on the Parade Ground. The run route is fairly flat and will be well signposted with assistance provided by voluntary marshals, the roads will be closed (although we will still be running on the pavements due to cyclists). Water and bake sale will be at the finish line.
Arthur's Seat Aquathlon - Sprint Distance
Welcome to Arthur’s Seat Sprint Distance Aquathlon!
For the Sprint distance Aquathlon, there will be 750m pool-based swim followed by 5km run lap of the Arthur’s Seat Loop on Queen’s Drive, finishing on the Parade Ground. This is a route featuring incredible and iconic Edinburgh scenery, it includes a hill over the first half to challenge you. The run route will be well signposted with assistance provided by voluntary marshals, the roads will be closed (although we will still be running on the pavements due to cyclists). Water and a bake sale will be ready for when you finish.
Prices
A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for participants who are not a British Triathlon Home Nation member. For this event, Race Pass costs are £2.00 for participants aged 24 and under, and £8.00 otherwise.
