Organiser's Description

The Aberdeen University King's Aquathlon is back!

SATURDAY 23 OF OCTOBER 2021

Swim in Aberdeen Sports Village followed by a run along the beautiful Aberdeen beachfront (read: flat and fast!)

 

You will have the choice of two distances

Open - 800m swim + 10km run 

Novice - 400m swim +  5km run

YOU WILL HAVE TO BE 15 YEARS OLD OR OLDER TO BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PART.

Fees

Adults - 25 pounds

Students, and 15-18 years old participants - 22 pounds

This does not include the administration fee paid towards EntryCentral.

Race Info

The swim will be in the 50m pool and the run will be along the beach with the finish line being at the back of Aberdeen Sports Village. The whole race will be chip-timed.

Registration will be in the Aquatics Studio of Aberdeen Sports Village (enter via the Aquatics Centre entrance and proceed straight up the stairs).

Race briefing and prize giving will be held online before and after the race. Prizes are to be decided.

From all participants, we request an estimated 400m swim time to allow us to sort them into heats.

Timings

Race briefing - Online prior to the event

Registration - 10:30-12:00

Transition opening times - 11:00-12:15

Open Race starts - 12:45

Novice Race starts - 13:15

Please be as accurate as possible to help us ensure a smoothly running event! Please arrive poolside 15 minutes before your planned start time!

Refreshments and equipment storage

Refreshments (banana and glucose tabs) are available after the race. Please note that due to King's Aquathlon 2021 being plastic-free, there will be no bottled water distributed at the finish line. Participants thus are encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles of water as a refreshment after the race.

Please note, that unlike in previous years, you will not be able to store your equipment in the registration room. However, the lockers at the swimming pool changing room will accommodate your belongings while you race. Please bring a 1-pound coin in order to operate the lockers, or alternatively, you can store your equipment in your car, if you are using one. Free car parking is available on ASV premises.

COVID-19

Prior to attending the race, you must fill out the Self-Declaration form of Triathlon Scotland which you can find under the "Additional Useful Links" tab of this website. You must also send this document to triathlon@ausa.org.uk prior to attending registration.

You will also need to fill out the registration form of Aberdeen Sports Village which you can find here.

You must not take part in the event if you have coronavirus, symptoms of coronavirus and/or have been in close contact with a confirmed coronavirus case in the 10 days prior to the event.

You will be required to wear appropriate face coverings and maintain social distance whenever not racing. Disposable face masks for queuing up poolside and after finish will be provided by the organisers. You will also be required to practice good hygiene during the event (i. e. coughing or sneezing into the crook of your elbow and washing your hands whenever possible). Hand sanitizing and handwashing facilities will be provided in order to do so.

You will not be required, just strongly encouraged to take a free community coronavirus test (lateral flow) on the day before the race.

Due to the ongoing situation, spectators will not be allowed within the premises of Aberdeen Sports Village. This is for both inside and outside premises. An exception will apply for those aged under 18 who may bring one accompanying adult into ASV premises. Spectators are free to watch the race at their own responsibility at any other location.

Refund Policy

At the organiser's discretion, 100% refunds (excluding the EntryCentral administration fee and minus any credit card processing fees) will be issued to any competitor who withdraws from the event more than 5 days before the event. No refunds will be issued for withdrawals after the event closing date, which is the 18th of October 5 pm.

100% refunds (excluding the EntryCentral administration fee and minus any credit card processing fees) will be given to all participants if the event organiser is forced to cancel the event due to COVID-19 (government, governing body, Aberdeen University or AUSA) restrictions until the 1st of October.

75% refunds (excluding the EntryCentral administration fee and minus any credit card processing fees) will be given to all participants if the event organiser is forced to cancel the event due to COVID-19 (government, governing body, Aberdeen University or AUSA) restrictions between the 1st and 23rd of October.

100% refunds (excluding the EntryCentral administration fee and minus any credit card processing fees) will be given to all participants if the event organiser decides to cancel the event at their own discretion.

GDPR

Your personal data will be securely stored on the club's password-protected Entry Central and Google Drive accounts with only the committee members of Aberdeen University Triathlon Club being able to access them. Your data will be used for communication and event organising purposes and will be deleted from every platform by the end of the current university academic year (June 2022) at the latest.

Your and/or your emergency contact's personal data might be shared with NHS Track and Trace services, upon their request.

To sign-up for this event, the Service Fee is 4% (min 50p) for each sign-up

A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for participants who are not a British Triathlon Home Nation member. For this event, Race Pass costs are £6.00 for participants aged 24 and under, and £12.00 otherwise.
