Robert & Raymond would like to invite you to join us for our event. Relay team entries will open on Monday 30th July at 9pm.
After our successful inaugural Falkirk 8Hr Race last year the 2nd Falkirk Ultra Race takes place in Callendar Park Falkirk on Sunday 3rd Feb 2019 and is organised by R & R Events. This Ultra is suitable for experienced and or novice Ultra runners. The race is 8 hours long and organised so that you will run in daylight at all times. It starts at 8am and will finish at 4pm.

8 Hour Solo Race you can run as much or as little as you want. Stop at anytime for a break.
8 Hour Relay Team Race for teams of four. Each runner must complete a lap before handing over the baton to the next runner. All relay runners must run in consecutive order. This promotes fairness to all teams. Relay teams will consist of the following 4 man team, 4 female team and a mixed team which should consist of 2 male and 2 female no other combination will be accepted.
The main race loop is 3.8 miles long and the majority of it is run on forest trails and tracks with a small part on tarmac and a short grassy section.
At 3pm you will have the opportunity to finish the last hour on our shorter 0.65 mile loop. If you feel you would rather run the bigger loop then that’s up to you. Just remember if you do not make it over the finish line by 4pm all that running on the last lap will not count towards your final mileage. The course will be well marked and marshalled so you’ll have no concerns about getting lost and if you require any assistance you are only 1 mile away from the finish at any given point during the race.
Cold & hot water will be supplied for runners to use. Both will be available at the start/finish.

There is ample parking close to the start/finish area.
There will also be space near the start/finish for runners who wish to set up a gazebo for their team or club runners.
There will be toilets available within Callendar Park for the duration of the event at the start/finish. There will be portaloos near the start and public toilets in the park will be open from 9am.
We will again be supported by the Bunny Hutch stall where you will be able to purchase soup, sandwiches, coffee,teas and cakes etc.
Please come well prepared for this event as you would for any other endurance race.Please remember to dress for the expected weather.
We will have a First Aid Cover on site for the duration of race but please don’t underestimate the importance of a support crew no matter how experienced you are in running ultra races.
The race team will also be patrolling the course regularly on foot and bike, so don’t be afraid to ask for some company for a lap or two if you feel you need it. Can’t guarantee their conversation is great but it might take your mind off things.
Above all else, please keep an eye out for each other when on the course and let us know if you think someone is struggling or needs assistance.
Suggested Kit List
Head torch w/spare batteries for the first couple of loops.
Full body waterproof clothing.
Hat & gloves.
Some warm layers, spare layers etc.
Basic first aid kit.
Enough food to last the duration.
Any current medication you may be taking.
A sense of humour
Enough supplements, sports drinks, electrolytes etc to last the duration. Drinking water will be provided.
Anything else that will make your race more enjoyable….. within reason!!!!
The above kit is the bare minimum you are expected to have on the day and some of it is just our own recommendations from experience at ultra races. Equipment and food/drink requirements are a very individual thing for each athlete, so please be sure to test things out in training as its the only way to know what will work for you.
Please pack enough variations of clothes to cope with all weather eventualities as well as enough in quantity to ensure you have dry layers to change into.
Athletes are not expected to carry spare kit during the race. Due to the length of the course and the layout, your equipment can be stored in our registration marquee,your car and/or with your support crew.
The schedule of events will typically be as follows:
Sunday 3rd February 2019
Race registration will be open at 6.30am
at marquee on grass area in front of Callendar House
6.30 - Race registration opens
7.15 - Marshall briefing.
7.45 - Race registration closes.
7.50 - Athlete and crew briefing on start/finish line.
8.00 - 2nd Falkirk Ultra race starts solo & relay teams together.
3.00 - Short loop opens
4.00 - Race finish
4.30 - Prize giving in main marquee.
Prizes for 1st, 2nd 3rd Male and Female solo runners.
Prizes for 1st Male, Female and Mixed Relay Teams
£30 for solo’s and £100 for relay teams. Limited to 190 solo runners and 15 x 4 relay team members.
Sorry no refunds will be given. We will however accept name changes until closing date 5th January 2019.
Wtransfer details should be arranged between the runners involved before notifying the Race Organiser of any changes which you will be able to do via EntryCentral.e will also allow deferring your entry to 2020 up to the closing date. We hope you will find this process fair.
Occasionally we may have to alter the race route and distance due to forestry or other essential maintenance work. If the race is cancelled due to severe weather conditions or any other unforeseen circumstances then we will reschedule the race to a later date.
