NEW CUMNOCK SUPERSPRINT (Event Director Andy Clapperton)
This event will be chip timed. All competitors will receive a personal printout of overall time and splits.
SWIM - 400m (16 lengths of 25 m pool).
CYCLE - 14km. Description (refer to map) turn left out of Pool car park onto A76 for 200m, turn right on roundabout following B741 for 7km, continue on this road until Knockburnie Farm where Event marshals will ensure a safe u turn. Return via the same route to transition area at swimming pool.
RUN - 3km. Refer to aerial map photo (attached). 2 anti-clockwise laps on a flat course consisting of tarmacadam footpaths throughout, finishing at swimming pool car park.
In conjunction with the Princes Foundation Charity, New Cumnock Outdoor Pool are hosting a junior Aquathlon followed by an Adult Supersprint Triathlon. This event is sanctioned by Triathlon Scotland.
Following registration at 12:00hrs this race will start at 12:30hrs. Age groups will be 8-10 (50m), 11-12 (50m) and 13-15 years (100m) of the 25 metre Pool followed by a flat course 1.5k run along the riverbank and returning to the Pool for finish. NO ESTIMATED SWIM TIMES REQUIRED.
Registration will open from 13:00hrs, race commencing at 14:00hrs
Swim - 400m (16 lengths) of a 25 metre 5 lane pool set at a comfortable 28.5c. If race entries fill there will be 3 heats at 15 minute intervals.
Cycle - 14km on a quiet country road of good quality surface. The terrain is fairly flat apart from a few wee "cheeky" hill climbs.
Run - 3km flat run consisting of 2 laps around the nearby riverbank and returning to finish at the Pool.
Entry will be via the EntryCentral website and a waiting list will commence once the race is full. Withdrawals will be replaced from those on the waiting list until 7 days before the event, thereafter there will be no movement, as this allows the swim heats to be drawn up. There will be no entry on the day so please do not turn up unless you have a confirmed space.
Before the event starts your bike must be placed in the transition area rack allocated to your race number. Any clothing you require during the event should be left beside your bike.
There is no entry to the transition area after the race briefing starts. Transition will remain closed throughout the duration of the race. This means you will be unable to remove your bike/belongings after your race until all other competitors have completed their race. This rule is to ensure that all competitors get a fair race.
HEATS AND LANE ALLOCATION
Heats and lanes are allocated according to the time predicted on your entry form. It is vital to the smooth running of the event and to be fair to others that you predict your swim time accurately.
It is compulsory to wear a correctly adjusted BS Approved cycle helmet.
The route is on public roads. Cyclists should take care at all times and must obey the Highway Code including traffic signs and police directions. Marshals at junctions can give directions only and cannot control / direct traffic.
No cycling in the transition area – mount after leaving - dismount before re-entering. Your bike must be re-racked correctly.
There is ample parking in the public car park outside the Pool and surrounding area
Changing and shower facilities are available free to competitors in the swimming pool.
In accordance with Triathlon Scotland Rules and Regulations please pay close attention to the revised cycle and run distances which are the recommended distances for a Supersprint Event.
