Donkey Brae races 2017

30 Jul 2017

1pm Sunday 30 July 2017 at Hawkcraig Park, Aberdour, Fife, Scotland

Sponsored by McTaggart's cafe-deli and Run 4 It.

These Scottish Athletics registered 7-mile & 2-mile races both start and finish at Aberdour’s Silver Sands. The scenic courses are of mixed terrain over undulating coastal paths, the 7 mile runs between Aberdour and Dalgety Bay whilst the shorter 2 mile run remains within Aberdour itself. Make sure you keep something in reserve for the notorious Donkey Brae climb towards the finish!

The 7 mile races is open to runners aged 16 years and over while the 2 mile race is open to those 9 years and over. Everyone who takes part will receive a medal & results will be available on the Aberdour Festival website and our Facebook page. prizes for M&F Open, Vets, Super Vets and, for the first time, due to popular demand, Super Vets Plus (60 and over). Unfortunately the course is not suitable for wheelchair users.

1 mile runners can enter on the day from 10.00am – 12.00pm at Aberdour Primary School, Hawkcraig Road. Due to the anticipated high entries, there will only be entries for the 7 mile and 2 mile runs on the day if the events do not reach capacity. We encourage you to pre-enter on EntryCentral to avoid disapppointment. A small number of paper entry forms are available from McTaggart's cafe, 21 High Street, Aberdour KY3 0SH.

We encourage runners to travel by public transport where possible as parking is restricted. The car park at Aberdour train station is free, but busy! Aberdour has excellent train links. Please note, parking charges (outwith our control) will apply at Hawkcraig park itself.

We will be using chip timing at this event. Numbers and chips should be collected from Aberdour Primary School on the morning of the race, between 10.00 am and 12 noon. Chips can be attached to running shoes (laces) and must be returned after the race.  A charge of £5 per chip will be applied for non-return of chips. As noted above, access and parking are difficult for late arrivals so please allow plenty of time.

The Donkey Brae races are once again part of the Aberdour Festival. Why not bring your friends and family and enjoy a great day out? As well as the 7 & 2 mile races there is a fun run open to all & for runners and non-runners alike there is a farmer's village market in the marquee with refreshments, entertainment and much more. For further details, check out the Aberdour Festival website
