Organiser's Description

Race Description:

Start: 9am Saturday 1st July 2023

The Great Glen Ultra (Short Course) is a stunning 42mile foot race between Fort Augustas and Inverness following the Great Glen Way. The event is for solo runners and is designed to be unsupported with drop bags/checkpoint located at 3 points along the route. The route is fully marked with waymark and arrow signs.

The route starts at Fort Augustas Village Hall and follows the Great Glen Way High Route where you will head off up hill with stunning views of Loch Ness all the way to Drummnadrochit after which the final climb takes you over the hill and down into Inverness and finishing at Inverness Sports Centre with a lap of the 400m track just to complete your epic journey along the Great Glen Way.

Runners will register at Inverness Sport Centre before being bused to Fort Augustas for the start of the race at 9am with a 14hr time limit. Runners should bring 3 drop bags which will be located at Invermoriston, Drummnadrochit and Abrachan.

As stated previously this race is designed to be unsupported and would note that if anyone is spectating, this can only be done at Invermoriston, Drummnadrochit and the finish.. No spectators are allowed at Abrachan. Any runner found to have spectators/support at Abrachan will be DQed. Race briefing will be send out 3 weeks before race day. Its a runners responsibilty to pass all required information on to whoever maybe attending the event. " I dont know" is not an excuse.

Runners are invited to the presentation/prize giving on the Sunday morning at the sports centre where all runners acheivements are recognised.

Deferrals/Refund Policy:

Runners are reminded that Rocket Events dont do deferrals. Deferrals will only come into play if there is travel restrictions or lockdowns in place due to covid 19.

Refund:

  • 30 day cooling off period will apply, withdrawal in this period will result in a £15 administration fee being applied.
  • After 30 days a 50% refund will be offered up to 12 weeks before race day.
  • 0-12 weeks 0% refund will be offered.
  • No deferrals
  • No transfer of race places between runners

These measures are being implemented to ensure runners are committed to running the events they have entered.

 

Covid 19:

Rocket Events/Great Glen Ultra (Short Course) will be run under a Scottish Athletics Race Licence which means we will be following all rules-protocol-processes and guidance for covid 19. You are asked not to enter the event if you are unwilling to follow the rules-protocol-processes that are in place on race day.

These rules are in place to protect all (Runners and Marshals).
