HiddenPeak Running Aberdeen Group Training
29 Jun 2022
FINAL PRE-SUMMER HOLIDAYS SESSION: 5k TIME TRIAL (Handicap)
Our final session before we take a short summer break is a 5k time trial.
What makes this different from any other 5k is that it's held on a handicap basis. So,the first runner(s) to set off have the incentive of trying to hold their lead all the way to the finish. Everyone else faces the challenge of trying to catch them. It's a fun way of making sure everyone has a chance of finishing first.
Handicaps will be worked out on the basis of your best recent time for 5k (or your best estimate if you haven't done one).
We'll use the Aberdeen beach parkrun course starting at the north end of the esplanade close to the bird hide. This is where we will meet.
We'll take you through a proper warm-up routine and an appropriate post-run cool down.
Coaching, encouragement and good advice will be on hand throughout.
The session caters for all abilities of runner so everyone is welcome! No matter how fast or slow you are - we will be encouraging you all the way. It's held on a handicap basis, so the slower runners get a head start and everyone should finish close together.
The course is on a wide pedestrian footpaths and is therefore completely traffic-free. The promenade is used by many walkers and runners so please be courteous to others at all times. We do not have priority over anyone else.
There's ample free parking on the esplanade close to the start.
Please arrive ready to start at 6.15pm. The whole session, including warm-ups/cool down and exercises, lasts one hour.
Wednesday June 29th 6.15pm 7.15pm
Location: Aberdeen Beach Esplanade north end/parkrun start area.

As a result of the removal of most Covid regulations, the scottishathletics and jogscotland Covid Guidance (V12, and including all previous versions) which we previously followed, has been withdrawn.
For general advice on helping to prevent the spread of Covid, we recommend following Scottish Government rules and guidance on how to stay safe. Covid is still a public health risk, and you can catch it even if you’ve been vaccinated or had it before.
By continuing to care for ourselves and others, we can help slow down the spread of the virus, enable groups such as ours to operate safely, and reduce pressure on health services.
