Triathlon Scotland - Open Water Coaching CPD
The British Triathlon Open Water workshop is a one-day coaching CPD workshop containing a mix of practical and classroom activities aimed primarily at coaches who currently deliver or would like to deliver coached open water sessions.

As well as getting hands-on practical experience coaching a group of open water swimmers, you will also cover:
- The types of activities that can go into an open water session and how to integrate these into a session plan
- The health and safety of open water coaching and what to look for in a venue when delivering open water sessions
- Coaching skills for effective open water session delivery
- How to effectively manage a safety team and gaining an insight on how to best work with them.
Please note – on completion of the Open Water CPD Workshop you will be required to deliver within your qualification remit:
- Level 1 and trainee Level 2 coaches can only assist open water swim sessions under direct supervision from Level 2 or above coach.
- Qualified Level 2 and above coaches are insured to deliver open water swim sessions independently.
Pre-requisites
- Minimum Level 1 Triathlon Coach
- Valid British Triathlon Home Nation membership
Course Overview
The delivery of this course includes:
- Classroom Session (at Willowgate) - 27 May 2023 @ 10:30 - 15:00
- Practical Session (at Willowgate) - 27 May 2023 @ 15:30 -17:30
Additionally, you will also have access to an online resource bank with further technical information and resources to support learning and understanding of open water swim coaching.
Venue: Willowgate Activity Centre Stockgreen Lodge, Lairwell, Perth PH2 7JU
Cost: The total cost for the Open Water Coaching CPD Module is £65.

A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for participants who are not a British Triathlon Home Nation member. For this event, Race Pass costs are £6.00 for participants aged 24 and under, and £12.00 otherwise.
